In Redding, CA, maybe not. In Pittsburgh, PA the land of construction I'm pretty much shifting all the time. Or at least as soon as I go to grab my coffee on the freeway, there's another stop ahead.

You would love my twice a week two hour (each way) commute then. I hit the highway shift to 6th, turn on the cruise and a hour and fifty minutes later turn off the cruise and down shift for the exit ramp.

I've done similar a few times, and I gotta say the cruise control in the FR-S is the best I've ever used. No surging or lurching, just smoothly maintains speed. Even on hills.

Oops -- I'm supposed to be hating in this thread, not liking!!!!

Ahhh shit me too.
Ummmmm I hate that I don't get to shift because the drive is long and uneventful.

There fixed.

They do make this don't they? Not sold in all markets, but it does exist.

GT86 RC. Think it's Japan and few other places only. Correct me if I'm wrong someone.

Hmm. Our cruise control is ok at speeds over about 85kmph but around town at below that speed it does not maintain well. e.g. if set at 60kmph and you begin a downhill it waits until you are up to 70 before downshifting. By then you are screwed if there is a police presence. It is ok at maintaining uphill speed though.
I realise not everyone uses cc around town, but if others on this thread do, and do not have a problem, I would be interested to know and will have it checked.

Consider in the manual it cannot downshift at all. Power off in 6th with the CC set to 50mph it will easily get up to 70 on a decent hill. But I'm not sure I want it to have control of the brakes. The VSC is bad enough on the brakes.

I've only had my FR-S for about 4 weeks, but the one thing I would change is the cup holders being basically behind me. I'm 5'1", so admittedly my seat is farther forward than most people would be, but I find it very awkward to reach behind me to grab my drink. A small reason to grump, but...there it is.

I use those cup holders as a pseudo-garbage can xD
