The new rumor with this car is that they plan on making the design less retro than before and use whatever platform the next Z is going to be on.

retro or not hope its looks decent. not really worried about performance since Nissan usually has that done perfectly most of the time. if its on the next gen Z platform then there is definitely no reason to be worried but time will tell.

What I would really love to see Nissan do is make an S16 platform and use it for both a 240SX-type car and the Z… but that would probably never make it past the bean counters. |

They say the IDx (no matter the styling or final name) will share a platform with the next generation Z (Z35). That could mean that the platform will be exactly the same and they'll use different engines & bodies for the two cars, or it could mean that they will both be based off of the same new platform, but maybe one will be modified slightly (wheelbase maybe slightly extended or cut shorter). Either way, it's a good business move. Making a new platform only for a single sports car is what makes a lot of these companies hesitate. It just costs them too much money. So, it makes a lot of sense to develop one new, GOOD, smaller/lighter platform and then make a few models use it. Anyway, back to the S16. They really should make a new S-chassis car, both in name and style. Who doesn't love the way the S15 looked? Just take that as a base and modernize it! I mean, come on... realistically, the FRS/BRZ/GT86 is pretty much a modern NA S15 with a longer wheelbase. They are very similar in a lot of ways. |

Wish there were more small RWD 2+2 like Nissan IDX and FRS coming
Great looking little RWD sports coupe.
Pics from idx forums IDX is still in concept form but hope it gets made and cauzes some other companies to make something to compete. Last edited by DSR2409; 01-23-2015 at 12:04 PM. |

How is it a sedan? It's a 2+2 coupe, just like the FR-S and the 240sx/Silvia it is following.
I would like Nissan to release some info on what they're doing though. The last news on the IDx was that production wasn't looking likely... |

I'm surprised nobody has made a car to compete with the FR-S / BRZ directly yet. Did Toyota and Subaru manage to catch everyone that off guard? |

The FR-S/BRZ/GT86 is succeeding by being inexpensively made out of the existing Impreza platform and, honestly, probably being given a sticker price $5k above what it really should be, considering the power, features, etc., because there is nothing else out there similar to it at the moment, which lets them get away with it... |

Sorry, but I just LOVE the styling of that little IDX.
They remind me so much of a 1971-'74 Toyota Celica. Adorable. :-)

The Twins got manufacturers to realize there was demand for these cars. But then I think the decreasing sales made them think that the market was already saturated.. I thought the IDx and Kia's GT4 stinger are probably going to end up vaporware... Unless if they are planning to Ford GT us with a surprise reveal...
