Changing the door panel insert to blue.
Here is the write up:
www. gr86 . org /threads/changing-the-insert-color.3088/page-3#post-60550 Removed the door panel per these instructions Remove insert Notice that all the screws are removed and I still have the pressed/melted fasteners For the melted tabs, drill out the center to 1/8inch depth and use a razor blade and cut under the insulation and shave it off so the black ring that is left by the drill and cut it and go by 14x1/2 or 1/4 in Phillips screws ( purple circles ) this will allow you to screw it back on like stock and is clean after. Then remove the insert Once the insert is removed wipe down with light soap and water and dry off Then pull back the edge or the material with the backing only about 3-4 inch off and gradually and evenly apply the material to the insert. Once the material is firmly in place turn over and cut excess off and remember to leave a little extra to wrap behind Reinstall the insert, now with the holes you drilled take those 14 by 1/2 inch Phillips screws and screw in where you drilled out the metaled tabs. once all the screws are back in re-install the door panel Not hard and can be returned back to stock in 40 min. WOW that looks really good. I'd do the upper door panel and cluster bezel as well, ALL the alcantara!

Beat me to it! I had a buddy do his dash in black and grey carbon fiber and as soon as the sun was bright it turned into an horrible checkerboard HUD on the windshield.

This looks pretty straightforward and honestly OEM+
I might have to find some material that closely matches what already comes on the door and knock it out.

My goal with any custom work on a car is to go for that "what if Toyota/etc. had offered a trim level above and beyond?" question. This is that. Not gaudy, not flashy, just an extra touch that fits the existing aesthetic. |

Right! I like the OEM+ look, I'm right there with you. " if Toyota had done this would it look like this"

I wanted that as well, but I found that the fake leather rolls that had the adhesive backing wouldn't stretch to accommodate the bends needed to look clean. If you find some I might change it out. LOL |

This is more subtle but it reminds me a lot of the colored interiors that Honda did with the S2k.
