Steering wheel modification with cruise control
Ok, so i've been thinking of replacing my steering wheel, but in doing so i'll be losing cruise control. This is my daily car and I'll be going off to college and taking long road trips to and from. I found a sparco steering wheel that has buttons for a horn, but I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to wire the cruise control to have the off/on to the left button and the speed set on the right one. Anything is appreciated!

Well studying kinesiology and plans to become a flight surgeon would lead me to believe that you understand the benefits of retaining your airbag in a street driven car. Especially if you are planning long trips.

+1 not worrying about it while you're in school.
However, all you need to do to is make a plate to bolt the cruise stalk to and then just plug it in. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95873 |

as cool as aftermarket steering wheels are and considering its your daily i would just get one of those cooler oem wheels from various vendors. probably end up cheaper and would contain cruise control and an airbag

You can keep your stalk and make a bracket.
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78397 Other people have relocated their cruise functions to the dash somewhere. Personally, if I did it, I'd pull out the heated seat buttons in the center console and make a custom three button panel to replace it, then run the cruise control there. But then again, I wouldn't put that fugly steering wheel in my car. I would use one of the many OEM-style options instead. |

All this steering wheel talk reminds me of the time I bought my 16 year old son a POS starter car. As, with all the kids, I'd tune up the car, put new tires and brakes on them .....then they were on their own.
So, we pulled the POS into the garage and pulled the brakes off it. I sent my son up the automotive store to buy brake shoes for the front and rear. He came back with a "racing steering wheel" ...... and no brake parts, because they didn't have them in stock. I promptly sent him back to return the steering wheel and go to another automotive store for the brake shoes ...... SMH humfrz |

OP will spend much time in a flight suit, needs to ditch the wheel for a stick or yoke.
