The embedded Israel link in the article shows relatively current data for the Pfizer vaccine:

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/cov...RZSI7DLRUDILA/

"The nation – wholly dependent on Pfizer – has a rolling average of 9300 daily cases.

Where it once broke vaccination records, Israel has now broken a grim new record – the country with the highest seven day average of new cases per million."

Highest cases per million globally

On Wednesday, Israel recorded 11,250 new Covid-19 cases with a seven-day average of 9308 cases, according to the country's health ministry.

That's higher than the seven day average of cases of 8624 cases on January 17, the second wave peak, only a month after the country's vaccine program began.

Daily fatalities were at 31 on Wednesday with a rolling average of 21 deaths per day.

The one caveat to that infographic is that they lump unvaccinated with partially vaccinated. It does not truthfully confer the amount of people admitted running around without any sort of vaccine shot.

Interesting that it's nearly all Delta. (Haven't found the numeric primary source, but a lot of articles are citing information from Israel's health ministry if you have time to look).

Delta accounts for nearly all infections in Israel today.

"The most influential event was so many people who went abroad in the summer — vacations — and brought the delta variant very, very quickly to Israel," said Siegal Sadetzki, a former public health director in Israel's Health Ministry.
And the vaccine is apparently quite effective against serious disease.

Quote:
The good news is that among Israel's serious infections on Thursday of this week, according to Health Ministry data, the rate of serious cases among unvaccinated people over age 60 (178.7 per 100,000) was nine times more than the rate among fully vaccinated people of the same age category, and the rate of serious cases among unvaccinated people in the under-60 crowd (3.2 per 100,000) was a little more than double the rate among vaccinated people in that age bracket.

The bad news, doctors say, is that half of Israel's seriously ill patients who are currently hospitalized were fully vaccinated at least five months ago. Most of them are over 60 years old and have comorbidities. The seriously ill patients who are unvaccinated are mostly young, healthy people whose condition deteriorated quickly.

Those that are not "fully vaccinated" have less than 50% inoculation protection, so I understand why they are included in that group, but I agree it would be useful to see both. it also doesn't show secondary infections either.

in the end though, I think it pretty well makes the point that vaccines work if given the chance.

Not really sure what your point is. You cannot draw a conclusion regarding partial vaccination from the infographic, yes.

Additionally, if you look at the charts showing partial vs fully vaccinated you will see that, while there is a 5 week difference, the percentage of people of that status is actually pretty low (especially since the take rate has dropped). Not enough people to skew the results significantly imo.

Partial vaccination is not effective enough to call an individual vaccinated. As a great master once said, "Do, or do not. There is no try."

Not trying to draw a conclusion. Just stating the facts. If you look back a few pages Dadhawk and I already hashed it out. The not fully vaccinated should be a stat of its own with those taking no form of protection counted on their own.

I will add this, our Infection Prevention Physician made the point that if someone has received only one dose of a two dose vaccine it is similar to a person being given a 10 day antibiotic, taking only half of it and three weeks later wondering why their infection didn't go away.

Technically, you aren't "partially vaccinated", you have received the first dose, but need the additional dose and a two week period to be actually vaccinated (or more properly inoculated) from Covid.

My aunt tested positive 4-5 days ago and has already been hospitalized. She has not been able to get vaccinated. Her daughter and one grandson(age 3) also both have tested positive but have mind symptoms. I am rather surprised at the vaccine supply issues in developed countries.
