Would do a comparison again if I go that route, but as I don't really do track days decided it wasn't worth it for me at the moment. If I ever stop $&@? Around and SC the car then I'll def upgrade brakes at the same time.

That makes more sense, why would they have brakes so big at the rear that it wouldn't even fit a 17" wheel? Makes no sense.

This is an email I sent to Powerbrake,
I don't mind paying the extra R1k From Sep 15 to Mar 17 for these pads, But feel that thier pricing is not the best compared to other Brake suppliers in SA. Sure you pay for premium quality, but are you paying for Powerbrake margins(profits) or the actual product, Anyone considered importing Endless Pads, or any other suppliers in SA? Hi there, I have been using your Endless brake pads on my vehicle for Track purposes, Vehicle: Toyota 86 Standard Spec Brake Pad: Endless PB05 I have a query regarding how these brake pads are currently priced. Tax Invoice: 613 Date: 03 September 2015 Price: Approx R2720.04 (Incl VAT) Exchange Rate ZAR / USD: R13.85 (04 September 2015) Exchange Rate ZAR / JPY: R0.1165 (04 September 2015) Current Website pricing: Date: 22 March 2017 Price 3,665.10 (Incl VAT) Exchange Rate ZAR / USD: R12.60 (22 March 2017) Exchange Rate ZAR / JPY: R0.1132 (22 March 2017) South African major currency fluctuation only started around December 2015. At current levels (month of March 2017) seems relatively stable. Analysis of pricing: • At current website pricing, the Endless PB05’s results in a R945 (34.7%) price increase. • ZAR currency has strengthened by 9% against the USD currency and 2.8% against the JPY currency from Sep 15 to Mar 17. • There has been no significant changes in import duties/taxes etc • Factoring cost(shipping/business costs) inflation of approx. +-10% from Sep 15 to Mar 17 (18months) • This implies a product price increase of approx. 25%? The reason that I bring this up, is that other brake suppliers, such as Star Brake (Who supply EBC from Europe) adjust their prices according to their cost. One of the major influences on their cost, is foreign currency fluctuations. I have firsthand experience in purchasing EBC yellow stuff in 2015 vs March 2017, and obtained the pads at a significantly cheaper price. I had a chat to your team today, and they mentioned that a new shipment has come in, and I can expect approx. R100 cheaper listing on the website, That would adjust the price increase to approx. 21% (Normalized from Sep 15 to Mar 17). Please assist in clarifying the basis for the pricing. Is this due to actual product costs (Costs from Japan (Endless)) increasing significantly or is this due to Powerbrake being the sole supplier of Endless pads in South Africa? |

Nice. Well researched and well said.
Can't wait to see their response. I've thought the same over the past two years, and that's why I'm likely to go with a Vari big brake kit in the near future. Ever since they started getting involved internationally, and involved in major rallying, Dakar, etc, I think they've got greedy. The answer you'll get from them will probably just be a smokescreen, but thanks for the effort and for sharing with us!!

I guess they gave us the answer via their pricing adjustment on their website, They decreased the price by R513 From R3,665.10 (Incl VAT) to R3,152.10 (Incl VAT) |

Going through this thread again... planning my Fi (finally) & obviously some better stopping power is a great idea to go with th added power.
Price vs performance leads me to think powerbrake is the best option here :-) So I wanted to find out if any of you have a) their carbon discs (same as stock size) + matched pads Or b) their BBK upfront. (Fits under stock 17" wheels). Is it worth spending 20k+ on option b, or are their better discs/pads a good option (at around R7k). Obviously fluids upgraded with both options. Also wondering if the larger discs would negatively affect the ABS?
