Well since its an EV collab (one of many i believe) between Toyota and Subaru
Its basically just like the twins, except its an EV CUV.

Or bring back to Toyota Voltz!

I find it hilarious that Toyota imported the Pontiac Vibe and rebadged it as the TOYOTA Voltz in Japan....when they made the identical yet TOYOTA badged Matrix in the same factory lol.

well to be fair, they did style the two models with large enough differences where it wasn't just a badge/bumper swap between the two.

Japan? specs: The Solterra puts power to the ground through a pair of electric motors, one for each axle. Each motor generates 107 horsepower (80 kilowatts) for a combined output of 215 hp (160 kW), and with Subaru's penchant for all-wheel-drive vehicles, that's the only configuration available on the Solterra. It utilizes the company's AWD X-Mode system for use on a variety of surfaces, which is further enhanced by the new Grip Control feature that provides extra stability at speed.

The Solterra's electricity comes from a 71.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, giving the SUV a range of approximately 285 miles (460 kilometers) per Japan's WLTC standard. History shows EPA ratings are generally lower, however, so expect to see that number drop for the Solterra's L.A. debut. As for charging, Subaru doesn't offer time estimates but the SUV can charge at 150 kW. That should translate to about a half-hour to recoup 80 percent of range.

I think it’s funny that anyone says different becomes an enemy. Japanese companies understanding on the issue is related to breakeven polution, rarity of materials and environmental impacts for battery production. They’re taking a more conservative instance as expected from those companies, and may change in the future with development of new technologies.

Their way of changing one thing which time has its SWOT, just time will tell if they are taking the right path and we will never know what they’re developing besides what we see in the news.

does anyone realize that they made 2 specific declarations before this year?
One of them was some net zero thing by 2050, and another probably last year or something i dont remember, was their 10 BEV's by 2025 or something?

I think Toyota got caught because they didnt anticipate the EV transition to be happening as fast as it is right now. Im sure they thought it'll take another 10 or so years before things start ramping up.

But the doom and gloom of the japanese auto industry by these EV nuts seem overblown.
Its like Nintendo in the video game console space. They've been doom and gloomed forever but they keep on ticking. Once they hit lightning in a bottle (nintendo Wii, and currently Nintendo Switch) they skyrocket out of the "doom" scenario and the doomers are all shocked pikachu face about it.
the Japanese electronics giants disappeared (or pared down) because the market started getting saturated with low end cheap stuff built in China and quality got to a point where unless you REALLY cared about the specifics (which the general public dont) then the cheap stuff became good enough. and the japanese market items (American ones too) couldnt compete with that.

In any case, you cant just declare EV's as the be-all solution. Theres people who want them, theres people who dont care (who will probably get convered to to EV), and theres people who dont want them until something specific happens (improved infrastructure, better EV choices, lower prices, etc)

Im not ready to go EV yet and right now...a ton of the EV's are....SUV's or CUV's...which...bleh.
