I don't think that is the point of the other comments. I think what people are saying is what is so hard about the standard way of doing it? How would this app know your destination if you are planning a cruise? Duration? Would I need a green light pointing north, south, east, and west? Would the intensity of the light tell me how far in each direction I could drive?

I'm sure it would be a huge hit with the automatic transmission drivers.

My 165-lb Newfoundland is all the weather app I need. If she won't go outside it's pretty much Armageddon out there and I won't even go out in my crappy weather car.

If I made a decision as to whether I should drive or not by how my dog feels about my car, I'd be best off selling it (the car, not the dog hehe) . He hates drives so much.

Heres some flaws with your idea (aside from the obvious just look outside)
-I have a detached garage. I have to go outside to get to my car, so before I decide to do anything with the car i have to look outside. Same for anyone without a garage and/or parks outside. -Limited use case. If you have to decide which car to take (if you have more than one)...there is a real reason why you are picking one of the cars...and im pretty sure most of the time it has nothing to do with the weather (like i have to go pick up something from ikea, or i have to get the kids). In the case of winter...well you already know what the weather is like so picking the SUV over the sports car for example is simply that its easier to get around the snowy conditions in the SUV. -There is needless complexity to a simple task. Its like the youtube videos by the guy named Khaby Lame. He watches "lifehack" videos where they go through like a 10 step process of doing something that usually takes...1 step for example: |

I can kind of visualize what you're trying to say, and it sounds good in concept, but it would be a bit flawed in execution. Though there are some apps like The Weather Channel app already give you a glance of the conditions outside. Yours would be focused on seeking the best driving conditions available. Looking at the whole picture, I see is that you would be driving your vehicle probably less than, say, 1000 miles a year if you're always looking for the cleanest conditions. For example, wouldn't be able to drive for all of winter months (Cold roads, rainy roads, salt, etc), same for spring as there is pollen, constant rain, there's humidity in the summer which affects performance, there's also heat, which unless you want to breathe hot, dirty air, you'll have to use your A.C, which hinders performance, plus other variables performance-wise.
Perfect driving conditions are few and far between, which could be great for your app if you're trying to reduce the amount of miles in the GR86, and keep it clean. Or you could take the weather forecast with a grain of salt, mount the proper tires for the season, do proper paint upkeep (Sealant, wax/graphene, Fluidfilm) and make the best of it. As a vehicle maintenance nut as I am, I feel your concern for trying to keep your new car clean, but sometimes we have to take the L, and compromise for a few months and just wait for that instant satisfaction of admiring the finish of a wash and wax after weeks of not being able to do so.

See if the DOT has location trackers for street sweeping equipment.
Half the job done. In mid-Oregon at Shaniko there was a sweeper just finishing up one of the best roads in the state just as I got there.
