Yeah, the Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio. Nice engine, but I don't think it can be used. It is a proper twin turbo. It isn't a single turbo in a hot-V configuration, so it can't be used. See the pics below and the rules. Max 3 allows a 4.5L or 2.9L single unit or 1.9L multi-unit. To me, it doesn't matter if we are talking twin turbos or if we are talking a supercharger and a turbo, but there is a chance they mean only the later. I would want clarification:

A. Unmodified naturally aspirated 4-cycle engines of up to 4.5L OE measured displacement..

B. Unmodified naturally aspirated rotary or 2-cycle engines of up to 2.0L OE measured displacement.

C. Modified naturally aspirated 4-cycle/rotary engines up to their respective Max 4 listed OE measured naturally aspirated unmodified displacement limit.

D. Unmodified single-unit forced induction 4-cycle/rotary engines within their respective Max 4 listed OE measured naturally aspirated unmodified displacement limit.

E. Modified or unmodified multi-unit forced induction engines or added forced induction within Max 5 listed OE measured naturally aspirated unmodified limit.

The other option is to do a modified Max 5 category. I don’t know if there is a better option, but the 1.8L Miata engine from the NB is obviously longitudinal, under 1.9L, and if you did piston, rods, and the works with E85 and a turbo like a G30, you probably could make plenty of power with decent response, be light weight and have a cheap engine in there.

Yeah there aren’t that many longitudinal engines under 1.9l that have good aftermarket support and can make power. I wanted to suggest destroking an RB20 but the rules state OE displacement.

Z3s had a 1.9 engine available, or you could look into CA18DETs (if rod bearings are your thing)

We shall see what this engine swap brings first.

If it isn't as competitive as I would like. I'll dig a little deeper into the rule book.

Latest episode is now up and running.

Not a lot of techincal talking, but there will be plenty of that in the upcoming future.

I do have a question for those of you following on the FR-S teardown.

Do you guys want to see some tips and tricks on removal of the Scion teardown, or would a timelapse of a fast teardown be good? I have no problem going over things, even to the point of a how-to.

I am just wanting to give you guys as much positive return on your time as possible.

Going to have to get to know your audience. Some people love technical details, some people hate it.

I've been following speed academy for a long time and I actually watch them much more casually now. They used to really dig into technical details. Probably to the point of being annoying for most but I like that type of content. That said, them moving away from it is probably more "normal" viewer friendly. What you produce will attract a certain audience is all I'm saying
You just have ot decide what you want.

Personally, I just want to see how you're going to make it all work together and anyone attempting a swap of this magnitude isn't going to be looking for pointers on how an exhaust comes apart. My .02.

very interesting project. Can't wait to see it in action!
