BRZ 2.0L Turbo in 2014 Forester
Looks like the North American Foresters get a new direct-injected, turbocharged version of the naturally aspirated 2.0-liter boxer used in the BRZ.

"Only 50 hp"? I would be pleased with that. 125 hp per liter, that's Ferrari output.

Seems a bit pointless to have that much power in this car. To each their own. I would like mine to retain its reliability for a while. It has plenty of power anyway. Damn thing can't keep the rears planted as is, lol.

I should've used yellow colored text. I was being sarcastic. Yes, this car has ample power for what it was designed to do. But everyone always wants more. With the right set of wheels and tires, it would be even better, along with some FI. But I agree, warranty is much better to me than turbo right now. We'll see what they do, but many people have said because the engine in these cars are tucked away so low, that the design from the Forester turbo won't work. If it did, I'm pretty sure it would be out by now.

And I see that the Forester turbo is only direct-injected, where as the FR-S and BRZ are direct and port.

SUV equal more room in the engine bay, and higher off the ground. Plus Subaru has to re-coupe cost to develop the engine some how.

I was soooo mad that this turbo cannot fit on our brz's without some aftermarket engineering. I guess subaru really wants keep "turboing" on the wrx/sti.
I am actually thinking of getting the new Forester XT to trade in my legacy gt. I kind of need the ground clearance when I'm going to the mountains.

Forester was available with a turbo 2.5l engine in the previous gen, that made about the same hp. I'm guessing the new one will have better fuel economy. Available with manual? Last gen if you wanted the turbo, you could only get it with the automatic.

I can't believe anyone is asking if that engine could be swapped into the BRZ.
