What Drives One to Buy an FR-S/ BRZ
This has gotten covered in one form or another in threads that are now so long probably nobody pays attention anymore. I only have a single statement about what drove me to buy my FR-S. The MOMENT I first saw an FR-S I COULD NOT consider any other car. The lines of the car still make me ecstatic when I'm approaching it to get in, and when I get out and everybody around me is looking. IMO, if you don't totally fall in love with this car at first sight, you probably shouldn't buy it -- there are plenty of others who want one.

That's how I was. When I saw the FR-S I knew I had to have it. Too bad my fiance bought it manual and now I have to learn to drive it in a big city filled with crazy drivers. D:

As an enthusiast, I bought the car because of its driving dynamics. The fact that it doesn't look like your typical econocar is a bonus.

I always loved old school Toyotas. I have an AE86 chassis (it ran for all of about 3 weeks) that I never really got around to finishing as I bit off more than I could chew early on. That was back in 06. I have spent more time on Club4ag than and other car forum in that time (nasioc, iclub, etc). Its because of the people as much as the car. The car is aimed at enthusiasts that will appreciate it. I feel like I missed out on that era of cool cars in the 80s and 90s due to my age, and the FRS allows me to experience that. I was borderline about buying it since my STi was basically my dream car, but then I read a post by Moto and sold had my FRS reserved and STi sold within 2 weeks. The crowd will fill up with couch 16 year olds thinking their the shit eventually, but this group of early adopters has been awesome. People whom just love the car and were the reason it was built.

This car sounded like it would have the same type of "feel" as my first car which was a '94 Integra. I loved the Integra because it wasn't the fastest car in the world, but it sure made running around the local mountain roads a blast.
The BRZ meets and surpasses everything I thought it would be. It like the Integra isn't going to blow anyone away on a drag strip, but by God I know that it would give plenty of people a run for their money when going through the twisty bits. Other than that, it is just a great all around car. I can fit my family in it if I need to, it is comfortable to take a trip in, and it gets great gas mileage... A great sports car that meets the needs of a daily driver. My kind of car!

Many former RX-8 owners are getting BRZ. It is closest to Mazda in feeling of the road.

The other night I was looking at performance cars and had to get to the $75k range to find something I MIGHT consider over my FR-S

I love small, good handling cars. I was driving a Miata when I flipped out over the twins. Now I drive a FR-S that handles better than my Miata and no longer carries the stigma the Miata does.

Meh. Didn't need it fisked. But thanks, I guess. I would have been just as in love, if not more with a 3S or 4A style engine.
