Lightbulb GR86 4 gear SYNCHRONIZER ring in GT86?

I have to open the gearbox for a problem with the 4 gear.

I have read there that the 4 Gear of the GR86 is improved, looking for the references I have found that they are different, while in the rest of the gears they are the same.

gt86 4 gear SYNCHRONIZER SU003-05823
gr86 4 gear SYNCHRONIZER SU003-10754

Does anyone know if the new Synchronizer is compatible with the old GT86 gearbox?

Does anyone know what has improved?

I couldn't take it and bought a synchronizer to see how it was

He carries a layer of some rough material to improve friction, he will surely do his job better, but for how long?

cabron fibre

Looks similar to the Synchrotech that was in my old box. Price looks good on the OEM piece, I'd imagine it'd work in the older boxes. Thank you for buying one and showing us for science.

I chanced upon this thread and wanted to share my comparison of the various gearboxes. In case anyone want to swap things around. Green highlights what changed for the new gen (marketing material say stronger gears to take the higher torque). Probably useful for you guys who FI the previous gen.

This research came about cos i wanted to be sure the synchro-tech carbon synchros fit my gr86 and the conclusion is they should cos the part numbers are the same between generations.

Definitely something has changed in the 4 Gear, the synchro has some differences in its shape and I don't think it's a good idea to use it in an old model.
