Easy. I wanted a 9" wheel. lol. I'm not sure if 17x8 was a typo but my struggle was deciding between 17x9 ET35 vs 17x9 ET45. The ET45 looked good because my goal (at the time) was to fit 255 wide tires all around with no chance of ever rubbing my fenders. Then I found out I could accomplish that with ET35s and bought those instead. And they look better IMO.

Hey random question, I saw you liked mountain runs and that you're from Syracuse, NY: do you know any good roads in the Ferris Lake/West Canada Lake Areas? I'll be in South-West Vermont for a few weeks and I'm looking for good "field trips" to take so I don't go insane in small town Vermont. Also, loving your build: wish I had the money to take my car where you've taken yours. Do you have a license plate relocation in mind to get more air through the front bumper when you do have to have a front plate? Or did I miss a law in New York that says you don't need a front plate anymore…?

I have been running without one completely. It is 100% illegal in NY and 100% stupid of me. I am planning on buying the Raceseng kit so when I am not at the track I can switch out the tow hook for the licences plate mount.

I had a track day at Watkins Glen April 25th and 26th. It was cold and sometimes wet but not too bad. The car did well with no problems however I do feel like I am out-growing the Hawk HP+ brake pads. Watkins is pretty tough on the brake system and even though they held up fine with no fade, I feel like I pushed them over their heat limit. After some research and help from some other FRS track guys I think I will be going with the Cobalt XR2 pads and maybe even the AP sprint kit if I go back to Watkins this year. Here is a video of my last, very cold run and a few pics.
It was very cold, rainy and foggy. Oops. lol Car wash to clean the rubber, brake dust and exhaust soot off.

Just bought the full Velox brake cooling kit (ducts). I am very excited to test these out with my brake configuration. It seems like I am really close to a perfection as far as the stock calipers goes. I think switching to the Cobalt XR2 pads and the addition of the Velox kit will keep me happy until I can budget in the AP Sprint kit. Pics to come.

Did your Velox camber plates add any height??

Nope. They are designed to maintain the oem strut mount height.

Velox brake duct kit arrived today. I was surprised when I opened the box to see so many parts. I cannot believe the quality of this kit. The plastics look OEM; included pieces of foam to protect your wheel speed sensor wire; Anodized aluminum spacers; stainless steel hardware; rivet nut and riveter; even included zip ties! I have bought a lot of Velox products but this kit is truly over the top quality.
I am going to try to fabricate a way to keep my fog lights. (Keep in mind I got rid of my front grill.) However, if I can't figure out a clean functional way I am mentally prepared to ditch the fogs. Here is where I would like to place the inlet. I am thinking it will be pretty easy to fabricate a mount to the crash beam.

This is my way of modifying the Velox brake cooling kit so I can keep my fogs. All it took was a $50 order from Summit racing for a 10' length of 3" brake duct hose. The supplied lengths to the fog light position are way too small to reach the grill.
This pic shows the bracket being mounted in front of the crash beam. I will be using washers to mount it behind the crash beam. I believe you can maintain the oem grill this way but I don't have one to test. More pics to come.

Great solution to keep the fog lights!
I'm still trying to find an alternative method since JRSC intercooler sits right in the middle and there is no room to route hose/mount the inlet. May end up having to remove the fogs =( |

Well, I forgot to take pictures until I was done. I am going to adjust a few things this weekend and I will be sure to take some. I am going to add some screen to the inlets and also add another steering limiter. FYI if you have a wheel and tire setup similar to mine you will need two steering limiters on each side.
Front end. Below is a comparison of the 3" hose Velox includes and what is needed to run the ducts to the grill. Mine measures around 2 feet.
