Thats what that article was. Saying a bunch of stuff and saying nothing at all.

You walk away thinking, "WTF. This article LITERALLY said nothing."
If you work in the corporate world at a public company, you have to "say nothing".

If you don't, you risk endangering company stock pricing, corporate relationships, etc.

That's what anonymous sources always are. People who work there but don't want to get in trouble. If news of a product would damage my company's stock, I'd probably look at a new employer.

You obviously didn't read the article in great detail:

Quote:
"We are pretty serious about keeping the GT 86 pure and keeping a car like that in our line-up. Because in the past we dropped cars like the Celicas and fun cars, and we don’t want to lose that again," Toyota of Europe executive vice president Karl Schlicht told Motoring. "We want to keep some fun cars in our lineup."

The news comes just months after Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, president of Subaru parent Fuji Heavy Industries, told Automotive News he would "pass out" if the FR-S and BRZ twins were discontinued. "It's not going to be just one generation," he said of the Subaru BRZ in July. With both Toyota and Subaru on board with launching a second version of the sports coupe, it sounds like a continuation of the car is a done deal.
The point here is, both these executives are putting out vague, forward-looking optimistic statements that are just fodder for media to speculate on.

To clarify, if there was concrete news, someone would have spilled the beans. They are saying nice things that they think but honestly don't have a lot of control over and aren't binding. It's important to remember that this forum is a hugely small and useless market share for Toyota. If they said "this platform wasn't profitable, we're going to drive them all off a bridge", their stock price would go up.

Shit, their stock price went up today when they recalled faulty brake cylinders, which is a potentially fatal safety issue. I highly doubt this is calculated fodder, I think it's just the executives saying things that they feel like saying.

I heard from a friend of a friend (who is a service manager at a lexus dealership so this is legit) that they had found a way to reproduce the rotary carbon fiber loom used to build the LF-A for way cheaper, and that the next gen FR-S would be made entirely from carbon fiber.

Also it would be powered by a NA 2.5l Valvematic I6 with a 9k RPM redline.

Only available in Firestorm... not the color, but a literal firestorm.

If they said these quotes AT ALL! Not that the media ever paraphrases, quotes out of context or just plain makes shit up!
I have a hard time believing that the European EVP gave ANY interview to Motoring magazine for them to quote! If he did they would have a lot more than one sentence to write about!

I don't care about second gen. Not that I'm gonna buy it anyway. Pretty happy with my trusty 86 at the moment.
