Exactly, but do not expect to get the same problem. You can go and complain about crickets though.

It performed the same as the old one, but isn't actually broken. Aside from the very slight chirp (not to strong yet), it's running just fine.

When the tech manager talked to me about the old pump, he stated that he had no idea what part of the pump failed. He did say that there was a new part number for the pump that I received as a replacement.

I guess I should take mine in next chance I get. I heard woodpeckers today for the first time. I wasn't sure if anyone else had heard them before but was redirected here from the idle chirp post. I'd really rather my pump didn't fail on me.

I don't think anybody on here knows, only you and the OP have claimed the issue and a random service manager claiming it was about to fail seems... well I trust very few mechanics.

I wouldn't be surprised if certain people write it off as just another noise from a budget sports car.

@Nevermore

I honestly don't know how severe it was, but it sounded worse by the minute. I didn't want to chance something going really wrong. It is a fire fluid supply after all.

@strat61caster

This isn't the type of noise you write off. It is very loud. You will easily hear it over the exhaust.

Mine isn't quite that loud, at least not yet. Like I said though, it's going in Friday, so all should be good.

Completely agree with the way you handled it, everything worked out. I'm just dubious of someone saying that it was on the verge of failure by noise alone, no matter how alarming the noise. I'm certain if it's as loud as you are describing I'd be reacting the same way.
