PSA: Beware this rust spot

Detailing my car today I noticed some rust on the window frame on both driver and passenger side. I'd be willing to bet I'm not the only one with this problem and many of you probably have no idea.

The rust was forming under the window seal. Normally it wouldn't be visible at all.

A little background, the car is just over a year old, and has seen one and half winters. I strongly suggest having a look and remember to clean under the seal when you wash your car.

I remember seeing a picture of rust in this same spot on another thread. (Can't remember which one.) I've started cleaning and waxing this area each time I wash the car to prevent it from happening to me.

High humidity areas and airborne salts seem to be nasty on any vehicle.

Don't be fooled into thinking it is just people in snow/wet/salty road areas.

I'm in SoCal and my car's hardly seen water on it in just over a year and I've got rust on both sides (photos in the thread linked). Going to take it in, just have to decide which dealer as I already wrote off the most local one to me after they f'd up my free maintenance and then didn't respond to complaints.

Oops, my photos are in the original rusty pillars thread: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...highlight=rust

Yup. It's a design flaw where the rubber door trim digs into the pillar.
