I gleaned this from the Dealership Allocations thread.

Premium trim:
6.1 in Display AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA/DVD/DivX audio stereo 196-watt

Not sure where that originally came from, but for reference, my '05 Accord had a 180 watt system and it was more than adequate for a daily. Of course this is all relative, so your opinions will vary. I would expect audiophiles to be ripping this car apart anyway.

From what I recall, Toyota has been using Fujitsu Ten / Eclipse navigation systems for a while. I bought an Eclipse AVN6620 navi for my 2005 Tacoma a while back, and needless to say, plug n pay.

Not to sure on Scion's past nor Subaru but seems like Scion is unveiling the Pioneer w/Zypr with the FR-S.

AFAIK Scion has always used Pioneer.

Alpine used to be the supplier of choice... until 2012 when Pioneer started providing both the base and premium head units.

Damn my memory sucks. I thought old XBs and such had pioneers as options. Or maybe that was just options? Eh whatever

The xA shipped with a Pioneer in the base model in 2006. I'm not sure about the upgraded audio.

On the subject of the head-unit, I'm fairly confident that it's a pioneer system if it's the same one that's showing up in all the pre-production models at dealerships right now.

I had a Pioneer navigation unit last year and from what I'm seeing in the pictures, the UI is almost EXACTLY the same. So unless whatever company that's building the BRZ navi unit is outsourcing Pioneers UI, it's a Pioneer.

I'd prefer it to be flash based and then upgraded through USB.. but.. I'm guessing it's going to be on the SD card. It may be possible to remove that SD card if you don't need NAV and put a SD card with media in it though.

Only if we had the owners manual somewhere we could find out.. oh wait.. I'm too lazy to look.

I actually wanted it to be held by the dashboard troll the actually turns the key in the push to start system. While I am at it, if we get a lighter weight troll maybe we could hit 2700 pounds flat. Just throw in the EJ and I am done.... if its priced at 22k

Dear OP,
I wish to thank you for literally making me LOL. I hope you weren't actually being serious by stating that you hope it is a Harman stereo.
You do realise that is the manufacturer of Benz premium sound, yes??
It is nearly impossible to think you were being serious, given that a car in this price range and level of equipment/prestige CAN NOT have a stereo of that caliber and remain at the somewhat affordable price it is.
Warm Regards
Nafe

Why? Harman/Kardon audio is available in the Forester and the Legacy. Obviously H/K is not just for high end manufactures like Mercedes. Harman also owns AHA Radio that will be in the BRZ. It's not that funny like I wasn't wishing for a Bang and Olufsen system. My current car (2010 MKVI GTI) has a Dynaudio system which is one of the best factory audio setups I've heard. Oh yea by the way the most expensive car in the world the Veyron also uses Dynaudio too. Plus both my MINIs also had H/K audio and they were cheaper than the BRZ will be.

Idk about you guys, but I don't like Harman Kardon, especially the one in my car. So imo their sysytems are not as good as some say.

Mine is okay. Its nice enough that I don't want to upgrade it. I assume I will be pretty disappointed with the sound in this car, like most cars.

Dynaudio in the GTI actually sounds pretty good for a factory system, but from my own ears the best I heard is Lexus's Mark Levinson systems but thats probably due to Lexus damping. Every audiophile knows that it's hard to reproduce sound quality in a vehicle and Lexus does a real good job in that, IMHO. I also heard that Bang & Olufsen sounds good too.

S2kphile I totally agree w/ you on the Mark Levinson. My friend had it in his GS and it sounded amazing. The B&O system in the new new A8 will blow you way! Hands down the best car audio system I've ever and will probably ever hear, 1400w and 19 speakers . It's also a $6,000 option.
