Me, but mine does the shutter when the a/c is on only.

Just wanted to post a data point in case Subaru/Toyota monitors this. I wanted this car. I was going to buy this car. I have been actively following this thread since August waiting, hoping, to hear "this is the problem, here is the fix." I gave up and bought a 2012 Honda Civic Si. Here is the proof:

Don't bother flaming me with any advice/info on what else I should have bought. This is the right car for me (not saying its better, worse, or the car for you). I chose the horse for the course because I can't compromise or risk unreliability. I've suffered unreliable cars and my Miata was solid as a rock back in the 90's.

This post is also to sincerely thank all the contributors to this thread. You deserve better. I don't buy the first-year bug excuse. Too much development technology around to prevent exactly this. Toyota/Subaru should be falling all over themselves to please you early adopters. I really appreciate your efforts and information sharing and am hoping it works out for you.

Much respect to the contributors and thank you.

You need to go study statistics and failure rates, then come back and post.

Hmm well then I am not alone atleast. I've also noticed it's worse when the ac is on.
I wonder if i's going to be like this forever or they'll find a "fix" for it. Since there's no CEL they are just telling me to keep driving untill i eventually get a CEL......
It's just like the camgears are to slow to go back to idle state and struggles and then catch up, when cold and maybe the oil is thicker/not as free flowing then?

Finally hit me at 9100mi. CEL/SL. FR-S, VIN 7012XX, manufactured 3/12. It's in the shop now. Last report was that they are swapping the valves to diagnose. We'll see how long this takes.

Wow, one of the earliest production vehicles and highest mileage specimens I've seen get this.

Did you ever have any reflashes or ecu swaps done by the dealer before this cel turned on?

Nope. And virtually no sign of it either. I did have the idle hunting a time or two but only briefly and only in Park, so I didn't think anything of it. Could be the cold spell caused it to go over the edge.

Crap, makes me wonder if most (if not all) early run production cars will have these issues...

Update - they swapped the valves and the same error popped right back up. Now they're replacing a cam gear. Current ETA is early next week.

My car has been in the garage for 4 weeks now (I took it home instead of leaving at the dealer)... they are still waiting on backorders parts.

Question though, could I get some type of compensation? One month paid note? I see many people on the forums getting free stuff it seems.

Which version on the ECU do you have? 810, 811, or 812?
