"Its new Track mode (previously called Sport) permits broad oversteering drifts that melt into safe, stability-controlled cornering without anything like the previous car’s abrupt lasso yank."

That is good news.

Sounds like they enjoyed the car. It still isn't the HP monster people crave from the platform, but they didn't ruin it by making it soft and luxurious.

Nice read - they had a typo on the torque number, listing it as 115 instead of 156. Will be interested to see if we can get any gains off the new intake manifold.

Sounds like Subaru/Toyota isn't giving current owners much reason to upgrade. A lot of the changes they've made (slight power bump, revised suspension, BBK) are similar to what current owners have already done. Perhaps the one upgrade that'd be most useful is the FD ratio.

I guess it's a good refresh for people who haven't bought a 1st get yet. But given that journalists have been commenting that the two generations feel similar to drive, I can't see many current owners trading in.

Agreed.
But i guess it's a good thing for previous owners since this way we are not tempted to make a bad financial decision haha.

I like that they have made incremental improvements in a bunch of areas.

I usually keep my cars for about 10 years so assuming that there isn't a big update before then it's nice to know that I can get essentially the same car I have now but with some minor but still practical improvements.

Well if you just look at the numbers, it's not very tempting to trade in, but if the unseen changes and driving characteristics are much improved in the 2017 model then to some people it may be worth it. It's been stated many times that the whole host of changes add up to larger overall better driving experience.

I probably won't upgrade but that new charlesite yellow tickles my fancy.

I wonder if the journalists aren't seeing much difference in driving feel is because of the same Primacy HP tires.

But I think it takes more time and effort to engineer improvements that can keep a similar feel, than doing big changes which can potentially alter the feel by a lot for better or worse.
