Which SC Holds The Best Resale Value?

Which supercharger kit amongst the major brands / models holds its value on the second hand market the best?

And is the secondary question which ones would you say are the most desirable on the second hand market?

My reasoning is I'm only going to run an SC for the summer and fall with the intent to sell the kit in the winter and would like to mitigate expenses. My plan was to immediately start the LS3 swap but have decided I'd like to enjoy the car for the summer and in the winter start the swap.

Why in the world- none of them hold value. You put it on, and the value comes down. Do not do the install just for the summer, that seems miserable

Of course the value comes down, that's not even debatable. My question is which kit comes down the least.

The install shouldn't take more than a short day same with the uninstall. I'm fine with leasing some HP for the summer. The LS swap is going to take several weeks on end and about four times the budget up front.

Just grab the next used one posted? The depreciation of a new one is not going to be equivalent to the depreciation of used right?

This. As long as there is not excessive wear, they do not have an odometer. Used is used.

Probably directly related to popularity - JR or Edelbrock probably best bet. You could also mitigate depreciation by picking up a well cared for used kit off the board here when it pops up.

Agreed with others. But if you're really looking for an answer, I'd say what Bfrank said is pretty accurate. If you're a fat wallet kinda guy, buy a new Edelbrock, it comes with a 3 year or 36k mile warranty from the date of purchase, and it can transfer over to another person. So you can use it up however much and when you sell it, it can give the next person piece of mind that most of the warranty is still on it - that should help keep the value up.

EDIT: That is of course if you follow their warranty guidelines.

The best SCs for resale value are used superchargers because they already took the used market hit during the first sale and will likely sell close to what you paid for them.

I like this guy. I'm planning an LS3 build, but want a supercharger on my car in the meantime so I can have more fun this summer. Seems a bit backwards to most, but the LS swaps are no joke. Read of a couple folks giving up on them they were so complicated to integrate with the car. No trivial task for sure, good winter project when it cools down. A hot summer in the garage sorting it out would definitely add to the difficulty level. At least in mine, the afternoon sun can be punishing with a south or west facing garage in the summer. And I'm in relatively cool Oregon summers.

I see the Edelbrock the most frequently when surfing used boards, but never sure as it's been a while. Harrop's is getting a lot of buzz recently too as latest and greatest for power level potential.

I'd pick one with the most horsepower capability even if you don't wring it all out of it. It's a good selling point when you part with it if you have the unit capable of the most horsepower. When the buyer asks why you're parting with the best SC for the FRS, you can chuckle and say....LS3.

If you're worried about resale value leave your car stock standard. Nobody mods their car past cosmetics and exhausts expecting to get their money back.

Probably Harrop as theirs has the most power and is the most OEM looking setup which is valuable to those living in areas where police are strict on obvious modifications
