Raised High Spoilers
I personally like them (if they fit the car, I hate aftermarket ones). Seems some people hate raised spoilers.
I'm not sure this was discussed, but I'm pretty sure the raised spoiler is for visibility. Check it out. Seems to me that you would hardly know it was there while driving. Of course none would provide better visibility, but kudos to Toyota/Subaru for appearing to take that into consideration if they do add one. I'm sure that is the reason for raising the spoiler so high.

I'd like it more if it didn't look so ugly. But its still a prototype wrapped in.. eye-burning- night-club-wallpaper.

Aye I just realized people might get the wrong idea...
Yes I know a spoiler is a device to modify air flow in order to increase fuel efficiency or improve handling in automobiles, and a wing is to generate downforce, etc. I'm just saying if for any of those reasons the engineers had to add a spoiler (for extra downforce - this is a pretty light car), it's good visibilty is taken into account.

It is a bit of a stigma and tends to draw attention visually. That's just not my style (esp on public roads). However if the design is providing a noticeable benefit to the performance of the car I can deal with it.
There are, however, plenty of high performance street cars with no spoiler or maybe small lip or gt style spoilers that work and look just fine. For comparison sake, the Lotus Exige (I know, different class, different price, but same small 2+2 car with balanced performance and it will run circles around the FR out of the box - okay maybe not circles, we'll see). I've yet to find one that is a "must have", aesthetically speaking. Edit: And oh yeah, no I wouldn't consider it more acceptable if the design is for rear window viewing. Even with limited rear view visibility, you still have your side mirrors and a neck... use em. |

It's easy to remove a Spoiler if you don't like it.
I don't see what the big deal is.

Not always. Also I'd be fine if they design a wing that matches the car and makes it an option to add. After market spoilers are usually generic and hideous.

It's always cheaper to not include them in production... simply less parts. |

Luckily there are WRX owners who are willing to do trunk swaps. I doubt that all the FR-S's will come stock with such a wing though. I'm not worried.

I can live with that wing, but I prefer rear lip spoiler. If the raised wing has its own feature, I don't have to swap it with the lip.
