Back seat of twin is just fine. BTDT plenty. I seriously fail to see the issue. In the big picture of how your life will change, dealing with a baby seat for a few years is like complaining about having to shave.

I just cut off my beard experiment last night. Always wanted to try it. Could've kept going but I'm over it.

Meanwhile, purchase a good rear facing child seat the will fit in the front passenger seat of your BRZ, for those rare times that you would need it. Just put down the back of the back seat so it doesn't look like you have a back seat in case a LEO stops you. Chances are they won't know.

Now, for all of those of you that get all whopped up about the child's safety, I will site a few examples of children that were transported (without child seats nor seatbelts) in:

* somewhere in the back of station wagons
* in the back of pickup trucks
* in the back of feed/dump trucks
* in the front passenger, floorboard of various vehicles
* just laying on any seat

...... and you can see that ol humfrz, @Tcoat , @Ultramaroon , @Sapphireho , just to name a few, turned out jest fine -
Airbags weren't a thing though...

A Proto SLG that I've only gotten to use once and the trusty A5. I also wound up with all my family's markers and such for some reason.

I wouldn’t call you & Tcoat turning out “fine”. Lol

Don’t need to worry about college funds. It’s my kid. She’ll be too dumb... correction, she’ll be too smartass & prob get kicked out lol joke aside, I’ve already put money on the side for all the educational funds & have other funds for all other things. Plus some of the money from selling current house will go into kid funds.

I get what you mean for putting kid in my car... just problem is, I got aftermarket seats & it’ll be almost impossible to put the baby seat in.

I did look into Regal TourX. It's pretty much Levorg (just not Subaru). I heard about trans issue (a lot) and that's a bit concerning to me.
Yeah, there are really 2 things that let the TourX down. The dumbass transmission tune and the stop-start system that you cannot turn off. Both are theoretically fixed by a tune (Trifecta Tuning has one) but it's just annoying. And they removed the paddle shifters on the Buick version which is real annoying considering you have to drive it in manual on back roads to have any semblance of predictable throttle control.

But, it is a pretty great highway cruiser. Definitely wish I had gotten the upgraded interior and headlights though. Who the hell puts reflector headlights on their "$30k+" car (which this is really a $25k-$35k car brand new and don't let anyone tell you otherwise) in 2018!?!? And no cupholders in the back seat on the base interior is sometimes annoying if I have passengers.

Hm... that’s def a bummer. I rarely go on freeway. Don’t mind stop & start system. It’s not a high performance car & it’ll be my fam carrying car, so I’m okay w stop & start system.

IIRC you mentioned AWD previously as something you'd like. So AWD, sedan without V engines, under 40k off the top of my head.

Lexus IS/ES250 AWD/ F Sport
Mitsubishi Evolution IX/X MR/GRS/FE
Porsche Panamera
Audi A4-A5/S5/RS5 Quattro

BMW 520i X-drive
Jaguar XE or F-Pace

Ford Focus RS :O

Well, ya, maybe @Tcoat did fall out of the back of his fathers truck one too many times -

Good for you planning for your kids future educational costs -

As far as adapting your car's racing seats for a child - just improvise -

For 40k you could get into a Volvo xc40 awd.

Well, that be true.

However, at least in my 2013 FR-S, I can put a child car seat, with child, in the front passenger seat and it won't trigger the air bag light -

(psssssst - don't tell ma-ma - )

my sister in law is the expert when it comes to baby seats, so i had to google it. but it's no longer just when they're babies. i believe the average now is at least until they're 10-13 that they need to be in a car seat or booster seat. yay, regulations!

https://www.healthychildren.org/Engl...-Families.aspx

i knew a 16 year old in high school that was 60 pounds, and 4'8" with shoe lifts.. by the new regulations, he was required to be in a booster seat for his drivers test.

he also insisted on carrying every single book to his name throughout school in a backpack that him and a stunt double could fit into. it was hilarious to see him panic-run from class to class.
