How much do you put in with each tank?

I always thought there should be some fuel lubricant that would solve the crickets, but this is the first I've seen anyone post a product.
It's not a lubricant problem. Read this excerpt:

My work on the MS3 platform with the chirp/crickets under the hood.

If you take some time to datalog the twins and use some basic troubleshooting (check off the fact that it's a brand new car with less than 1k miles so the likelihood for a mechanical problem/bad HPFP is basically NIL), start looking into the software and note how the system operates.

Anywhere from 650 rpm to ~1300 rpm I can hear the chirp, and when it's chirping the ECU is in a mode that's targeting 4 MPa of fuel pressure (fixed setting). If you touch the throttle just enough to leave that mode and enter the normal pressure target "mode" (the ECU appears to operate in two modes, one when you're on the throttle, one when you're not), even with the revs in that same range, no chirp. And you'll also note a difference in fuel pressure target and actual fuel pressure.

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to put together.

Unfortunately I have not yet found the perfect solution to keep the ECU from going into this mode. I'm an ECUTek dealer so I need to have a chat with those "chaps" across the pond about this. There is a table in the ECU that is 2x2 and targets 4.0MPa, but it seems to do nothing for our idle issue, it's never used (tried changing it up and down).

Another thing that would be interesting to see is if our PRV is straight mechanical or some kind of electronically controlled unit -- I seem to think electronically as we have a huge range of fuel pressure operation (all the way to 20mpa, ~2900psi. Almost 2x higher than the MS3 platform). Just the way everything behaves leads me to believe it is electronic... but I haven't had the time to look yet.

--

Try it for yourself- step on the gas a little bit at a stop light. Notice how the crickets immediately disappear, and come back when the ECU goes back to the 'idle' mode. It's here to stay brahs

Odd. When I run E85 or use Uplon, my crickets go away. At idle. Where the problem has always been.

ETA: I'll post that link in the Software Tuning forum, maybe the OFT dudes can chime in.

Works for me. 1/2 ounce per gallon. I normally toss in 4 ounces.

ETA: The real solution is to ignore it, or pretend it's the supercharger.

I am not 100% sold even on this theory. Some cars just don't have them and some people have successfully used other methods. I for one only had them for 4 days while I burnt through a bad tank of gas from a less than reputable station (I was desperate). I have never once had even a peep if using the same gas I usually do. This of course may just be due too the normal variance in any car/parts and I just got lucky (or my pump actually is broken and I just don't know it yet)!

Does the E85 tune change the idle fuel pressure target?

Above my paygrade, but I don't think so. I still think the noise is some sort of cavitation.

Dude, you must have been a blast to be with on Y2K, or the Mayan end of the world. I must think that this is a joke. If not....take a chill pill. It's just a car. The odds are you will survive.

I saw the title of this thread and got worried for a sec because I own a 2015. Then I realized the OP is just being paranoid.

Nothing is wrong with your car and even if something is, warranty will have your back.

And honestly, if you had that much of an issue with the car coming with that many miles then you shouldn't have signed the paperwork....you should've requested another one.

Listen. Seriously. I'm a nice guy and I know stuff. Can't speak for the rest of the crowd here, though, but I mean well when I suggest you get some help.
You can't live your life like this, you need to find a way to let go and loosen up.

I don't know if this will ease your mind, but we own the same model year of this car and nothing you've said sounds really out of the ordinary for my car. I drive pretty aggressively by nature and this is my absolute first manual transmission car. I'm coming up on 5000 miles (2-3 months) and the only "problem" I've had was that I got a warning light for tire pressure because it was an abnormally cold morning not too long ago.

This is a brand new car. Brand new model year, brand new actual vehicle. My car came to me with about 100 miles on the clock, like yours. Sometimes I wonder if someone redlined it cold on a test drive during that first 100 miles. Or maybe the dealership filled it with 87 before they handed it off to me. I didn't ask and I don't think I'll ever know the real answer to those questions, but there is literally no point in worrying about it. How many times have you heard of a car failing (or even breaking significantly) before the first oil change? Maybe a handful, and probably only because you've read through this forum and found the outliers who you otherwise wouldn't ever know about.

These days I'm more worried about getting into an accident than the car just randomly deciding to fuck itself and die. I've heard so many weird noises so many times that by now I take most of them with a grain of salt. Honestly, if the car was going to have a major enough problem to be taken in immediately, I'm almost sure it would by necessity throw a check engine code. I've seen much older and much shittier cars throw codes for really minor problems, while I've never seen a car just completely die for no reason and with no warning. Again, you'll probably see that kind of outlier situation on this board because that kind of stuff gets noticed here, but you can't assume you are a part of that small percentage of people just because you're paranoid.

I got a bit long-winded, but my point is: Don't sweat it. The car isn't going to explode catastrophically and leave you with a huge repair bill. Just drive it and if you notice something you think warrants concern, just look it up here or take it in if you really feel the need.

Or move to Norway.

I don't blame SquadRogue for his attitude. He may be a product of public school education that in the US indoctrinates students with social engineering grounded in victimhood.

I could give numerous recent examples perpetrated by politicians, media and others all proven false but truth doesn't matter much when it counters certain ideologies.

I'm sure SquadRogue is a nice guy, too. Possibly misguided at this stage in his life but age and experience combined with sage advice offered in this thread and other 'net forums should give him a missing dose of the realities of life.

Driving his car down Route 1 to Santa Barbara, one of the most beautiful roads on Earth, or international travel would provide relief, be cheaper and more memorable than professional help.
