A N/A and a Turbo version would make this car a sweeter deal! I really hope they release both.

x2!

The turbo'd HP numbers don't sound too bad either, as long as that weight really is kept down (which I think we are all hopeful it is).

Agree. It should be at least 270hp in the turbo version. I hope for 300-ish for turbo one, but well, just give a 200+ on NA....

Hate to disagree, but the more ponies, the more $ you gotta pay. As long as the engine's strong enough, with the 230hp you can achieve near 350hp with bolt ons.

Really? with a car as light as the FT's going to be, I think 250hp will be more than enough. Then with an intake and exhaust and a cat delete, you could probably add 70-80 more hp no?

Toyota will simply give it the power and gearing it needs to achieve a good 0-60 time, because that is what will sell the car.

For us (enthusiasts) there will be aftermarket parts to go faster. There will also be the handling of the car. I won't be surprised to see a skid pad of 1.0g. The point is, horsepower doesn't mean as much as it used to as far as selling cars. People want to know how fast it is.

Seriously, I had a 3000+ saturn sky redline with 260hp/260ftlbs and it would easily do 0-60 in 5.5. I would imagine that the rumored 230hp, depending on where it hits in the rpm range and what the torque looks like, should be good for 0-60 in 5.5 or better. I would imagine the boxer engine will be torquey with good low end power relying on the turbo for upper rpm power. We keep hearing that the car will have a huge emphasis on being light and 230 should make this thing really sing...

70-80 off an intake, exhaust and dummy cat... I doubt that!

Regardless of the HP rating on a turbo version (if indeed true), it's probably going to be a stronger built engine compared to the N/A engine. I'm sure Blouch or Cobb can you help you get to 270hp and then some!

Hahaha, are you serious with the 70-80 hp gain off those little mods.

You would be lucky to get 20 hp to the ground.

Yes sir, turbos are very interesting things

Infact "You should have no problem there. I made 400 WHP on a stock EJ20 with a GT30R at 25 PSI but I would not recommend it for any extended period of time. I would say 330-340 WHP on an everyday basis is about what I would recommend as the max power level that is reliable."

"Currently, I'm running 395 wheel HP with stock internals on my 2002 WRX."

Sure it's a different engine, but who knows. I guess 320hp is a better estimate, but I can't say for sure.

^ What he said. I'd take a stab at about 50 net, 30 to the ground, but we are talking about a 2.0L engine, and barely any mods. Not to mention there is no way I'd take of the cat unless the car is being tracked exclusively.

Fact remains, we do not know how much it will weigh. I don not expect the NA version to weigh less than 2600lbs. I wouldn't expect a turbo version to be much less than 2800lbs.

Under 5.5 s to 60 sounds about right for 260-270hp. That's what I envision for a turbo version. Along with the requisite larger brakes etc.
