Spark plugs

2014 running E85, but I may have to go back to 93 since E85 is hard to get here. 50K mile DD and I'm about to change plugs. From what I read here, most use the OEM. Is there a better choice?

I believe HKS makes a set that is considered "one step colder" but in reality it makes little to no difference. I run OEM and I'm turbo'd and they work perfectly, don't change the gap. Order the Toyota version rather than Subaru and they come out to be much cheaper.

My advice: Skip the plugs altogether until you drop an igniter. Bet they'll last 100 Kmi or longer.

Coil pack? When the iridium tips in the plugs burn, they make the igniters work extra hard. Igniters already don't last forever so it doesn't matter. Might as well do them all in one fell swoop.

...IMHO

The coil packs seem to go only when there is under bonnet engine heat build up, like track days or the up and over style ft86club styled aftermarket manifold.
Changing them together is a big expense and if done , potentially delicious tuning ones?

Nope. They also have a limited lifespan. I've played that stupid onesy-twosey game with three completely different engines over the years. All over 100 Kmi, all just people movers. Track abuse (yes, I participate, and I said it) accelerates their demise.

Normally, they're like headlight bulbs. When the first one goes, just suck it up and change them all.

FWIW I had a coil pack on my passenger side die a year and a half ago.
Replaced that one coil and I have not had any issues since.
I abuse the car regularly, although maybe not as much as those who have racetracks to go to.
its nice to know that I can just get the toyota plugs and not worry about gapping them.
I am supposed to do that sometime soon, but im not sure how Im supposed to get the tool in there even if I jack up the motor a fair bit. (the tool for the plugs)

How many miles on the car? #3 tends to go prematurely because of the overpipe.

Are the aftermarket delicious Tuning ones any better?
And IIRC MY15 onwards had a revised set which are reliable compared to the ones before

I don't know. If there's truth to the factory change I imagine they'd be a sub for earlier model years. Personally, I'd try those before going aftermarket. That's just my mistrust for aftermarket talking there.

I believe this was when I had about 35-40K. It was a few years ago now.
at the time the header and overpipe were the factory ones.

Unfortunately different wiring harness and connector , so won't be Reverse compatibile. Check the links for reference , that's all..
