Bluetooth volume
Am I the only that seems to think the any music played via Bluetooth seems a notch or two lower in volume than the regular radio? I tend to use spotify and more times than not I find myself needing to go almost 3/4 of the max volume. Anyone else have issues with this? (ps. I found a previous post about this but no good solution)

Well, I'm no audio expert, but it wouldn't surprise me that a little energy is lost in the transfer ......
Maybe the folks over in the audio section of the forum can shed some light on this question ..... ?? humfrz |

2. Adjust volume on head unit or use equalizer to adjust the signal. 3. SVC (sound volume control?) function on the head unit, it does not work for all the channels though. |

Same reason most non-compressed CDs have much better volume and clarity then even a direct headphone jack.

This is because Bluetooth (in this instance) is being used as a wireless connectivity for sound, so the initial volume is controlled by the sending device. The receiving device (the headunit) can multiply that volume but only so much.
As @swarb said, start with your phone (or whatever the device is) first, then adjust the radio. My phone, for example, won't broadcast sound above what it believes is the max volume for a headset. To go beyond that you have to acknowledge that, "yes, I know if I listen at a higher volume I will most likely go deaf". When connecting over USB, the headunit is given more control. yes, this is an oversimplification and there are exceptions, but this is how it works most of the time.

I never had an issue with Bluetooth volume on my iPhone, but I do have Sound Check and EQ set to None. Sometimes the phone volume buttons will affect volume.

Be wary boosting beyond the normal volume control max... It can clip the output signal, and that sounds horrid even to deaf people that can't hear the horrible contribution of mp3 compression.
I actually run ~80% volume on the phone and crank the head unit to 7 or 8, though it goes a little higher on the highway what with the exhaust noise. As long as there is enough power, nothing wrong with this at all. |
