2013 with 65k and rod knock. Getting motor replaced, what else should I do?

So my 13 BRZ manual got the dreaded knock and luckily the repair is covered by the dealer. Since the motor is coming out, is there anything else I should maintain or upgrade at this time? Any upgrades I can do to prevent this from happening again?

Updated Throw out bearing for trans

Consider a upgraded clutch fork: https://www.verus-engineering.com/sh...tegory=1#attr=

Consider upgraded clutch fork pivot: https://www.verus-engineering.com/sh...tegory=1#attr=

Consider STI FA20 engine mounts

Consider poly bushing for the transmission (whiteline &/or perrin)

Consider replacing your Spark plugs AND coilpacks

The most important upgrade is to make sure the tech doing the work is versed on replacing the timing cover. You can do all the other upgrade mentioned that you want however ANY sealant, old or new, that gets in the engine and you'll be right back where you started

I am in a similar situation, and I have been told get them to put in new spark plugs (to avoid 4 hrs of labor in the future), get that verus clutch fork, and probably an OEM Exody clutch itself (but you can ask them to look at how worn out your clutch is now, if it makes sense).

However I agree, most importantly, be sure that whoever does this recall has done many before, without issues. My car was apparently worked on by the best master technician at a dealer that has done many of these, but it had the issue. I may be getting a 2013 engine without the recall done. That is fine with me, I don't want them to do the recall and be right back where I started. Also ask about what your dealer will do if you get issues after the recall. Apparently there is no warranty on the recall work (despite some people saying there is) but your dealer may cover it in "good faith" if something goes wrong.

Consider an upgraded block and throw a turbo or SC kit in there, and everything bonburner mentioned.
