Lantanafrs and pilot see there's 600,000 people dead in their country, shrug their shoulders and say, "Meh".
No chance either of you could ever feel compassion when all this alarmist stuff inconvenienced you so much. I hope that when your times come, and they will, that nobody minimizes the importance of your existences. I'm sure you could do a better job than your chief medical officer.

.16% does seem like a lot. Every death does "diminish me by one" but being an alarmist about everything, makes everything nothing. (See: boy who cried wolf) We lose more people to heart disease EVERY YEAR over what covid took. (Heart disease: 659,041) We lose as many people to cancer EVERY YEAR. (Cancer: 599,601) If we're going to be alarmed, we should probably start with what we're eating every day versus a one time event. Perspective. It doesn't mean that people's lives aren't important but it does mean stepping back from what scaring you today to see what's killing everyone all the time.

And a terrible suggestion at that time would be to ignore what is an immediate threat and return to status quo prior to the pandemic. You are correct, before the pandemic heart disease and cancer were the leading causes of death. What's your point? It's tough to treat those diseases when your hospitals are overwhelmed. Are you familiar with Plato's allegory of the cave? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegory_of_the_cave Maybe you should go back to yours, it's much safer there for someone who is ignorant of reality. Sure some were sick or fragile before the pandemic. But, they lived until contracting Covid19. Nobody suggests panic or alarmist behaviour. How about APPROPRIATE behaviour? Cry wolf? What are you on?

Cancer is not contagious. I don't think you're quite understanding the concept. You're comparing apples to oranges. One is a highly infection virus which can be passed from one person to another quite easily. Therefore, those who refuse to wear a mask pass it on and affect others. You don't get that with heart disease and cancer.

I think my point still stands. The number of deaths would have been far less if people had played their part.
Heart disease is more of a lifestyle and cultural subject that has made it so big of a deal. Also it's a much more slow process.

I will say that I don't understand why anyone who can work at home doesn't. Not just for the risk of covid or the flu but the driving too. It's just way more effcient and safer. I mean I love to drive but more so when I am going to where I want to go and I don't have to. Any desk job should be done from home. Driving to an office just use a computer is stupid.

My answer was written when only looking at the numbers. Regardless of the speed of process, those numbers are almost double the most recently revised CDC numbers. 375k is still nothing to scoff at.

Fair enough. But.... I still feel the desire to argue and therefore I say, 'FIGHT ME!'

Not defending against anything, because there is nothing to defend against. You (and a few others) persist in posting vacuous verbiage and nonsensical noise and pointing out the inanity of these sorts of ramblings has become something of a hobby. But, it does get rather tiresome pretty quickly.
