Sold my 86 already

In fact, I haven't even took delivery of the car and I've already sold it! Well, its not that I didn't want to take delivery of the car, but I've just been so busy the past month, I've only been home for about 2 days. So I never even got a chance to check it out. Either way, the next 6 months I'll be flying a lot so I'm pretty sure my car will just sit in my garage depreciating. I might as well sell it for a nice profit before I take delivery.

Anyways, the car is just incredibly popular here in HK. Especially with the price being quite attractive. The waiting list is now up to November (since I've already ordered another one, they say 6MT might be available sooner, I do hope so!) since my car is ready to be delivered, the car was sold with just 1 phone call!

I hope the new owner will enjoy the car! I guess I just have to patiently wait for another 6 months before I pick up the car!

Uh, congratulations?

Yeah, I can see demand for the FR-S going through the roof here. Richburg quoted me HK$420K for what looked like a base AT model. I'm having some second thoughts about my BRZ (deposit with Subaru) but as they haven't cashed my cheque yet I'm just going to wait and see.

i sold mine at 430k for my sport 6MT (GT trim), paid 355k at Toyota HK

so almost 10k USD profit... its hard to say no, especially I'm in no rush to get one now.

Has Subaru announce the price yet? I might as well put another deposit down for a BRZ at the same time and see which one comes sooner!

Wow... OK, yeah, even assuming the price of my BRZ is HK$380K, if someone offered me HK$430K for my BRZ, I'd almost certainly sell my place in the queue. Like you, I'm not in a rush to get the car (a depreciating asset), particularly as I already have a Legacy (B4, BL chassis) which I only drive around once a week. Plus I could definitely put HK$50K toward something else, like another mountain bike, investment, and/or some wine.

Don't think they've announced the price yet. They have had my cheque since mid-April, and said they'll call when they know the price, but I haven't heard from them since. Even back then it was claimed that at the rate things were going with the Toyota orders, you'd probably get a BRZ before a GT86 if you put a deposit down on both on the same day (in mid-April).

Got the call from Subaru today. HK$418,000 (inc. free rear spoiler as otherwise a cost option) for the top-end version, with only 1 MT WRB coming in on this batch. A other people are in line, I will need to confirm this weekend whether I want it. Going in in the afternoon to look at the details and confirm.

What do yo guys think? It is a bit more than I thought it would be (assumed it would be HK$400K) but I think I can still stretch to it. Have briefly been distracted by secondhand Elises - new ones a bit too rich for my blood - but think I'll probably end up going for the BRZ.

REPRESENT

Although I suppose if someone wants to offer me HK$480K for it...

thats way too much of a premium over the 86 Sport + (GT Limited). It virtually offer nothing extra over the 86 other than a Subaru badge!

ppl are flipping their June quotas for around 20k HKD. I'm thinking if i should pick this car up in June. Cuz in the end i'll still have made money and get the car!!! I'm not even sure if I should keep the parts I already ordered, or sell it... its taking up space in my stock room LOL
