another bad g35
This was the neighbour across the street from the house where I did the Corvette and previous black G35. He is also the neighbour to the G37 I did last year. It’s been a good neighourhood for me, I also have a Jaguar X-type coming up from another neighbour. The paint was in bad shape again, too many trips through the local whip and swirl car wash, and being an 05, its seen a lot of abuse. The owner wanted it to look better, not perfect so I played around a bit with polishes and compounds trying to get what I could get done in the time allotted.
Process Washed with 2BM with ONR Cleaned the wheels with Megs WB, then Magnificient, then Iron X Clayed with Autowerkes exclusive blue clay Compounded sections with Menz PG and Presta UCC Polished with Menz PF Switched from wool to foam, many times playing around with cuts Sealed the car with Riccardo Ultra Depth Wax, very nice soft wax Before pics Trunk is going for a respray from my paint guy Iron x working away Checking in the sun for progress Use to look like this, progress being made I would say Under the lights Fender was repainted, not even sure what they did here Pillars looking crappy Pillars looking not so crappy |

I'd love to get more detail with before and after shots. What tools/compounds being used (DA vs orbital, what pads, orange vs yellow, etc). Show an occasional spot where a finishing compound wasn't enough, then go through the steps to cut deeper and bring the gloss back. Show some spots that can't be fixed. I really don't want to cut through clearcoat to find out that the scratch/blemish was deeper than the clearcoat.

You sure had your work cut out for you. Man, black paint always seems to have swirls and blemishes. But you sure have a way with products and technique-- it looks beautiful.
