FIA would have been better off not releasing a reason why they didn’t accept Andretti. What a joke and a lie

The FIA said yes. Liberty Media said no. Which really means that behind the scenes the teams themselves raised hell and said no. Also, FYI, Liberty Media is American owned.

So this is all BS.

And I am going to find another series to watch, indefinitely...

And this isn't just sour grapes about an American team being denied entry. It's a combination of F1 bending over US consumers (F1 races in the US are crazy expensive compared to the rest of the world) while trying to entice Americans at the same time. Add in the LAUGHABLE competition in the series beyond the top 3 teams and let's not forget to that 3-4 teams more or less exist only to develop drivers for 3-4 other teams and you're left with a crap series. To deny a very legitimate team/offer to make everything better, with such a weak excuse, is infuriating.

Not sure which though. Love WEC but it's so difficult to watch (due to length of races). Maybe IMSA

What is the deal with the allegations against Christen Horner? I had seen some articles that the team is investigating them but nothing else on what happened. Weird.

Other than inappropriate behavior, there really isn't much. When I first read about it I thought It was one of those troll pages that somehow are showing up more and more on my social media feed.

Side note, I absolutely hate the sprint races and this new format blows. Friday practice, sprint quali. Sprint on Saturday and then quali after that. Utter nonsense.

Kind of baffled as well as to what the “allegations” are.
If it would be serious would the police be involved for criminal charges.

It just may turn out to be a worker that does not like the way he aggressively manages their workload … as some rumours suggests.

Stay tuned for Fridays RB inquisition on the matter.

With the string of black car unveilings this week it is quite refreshing of AlphaTauri or is it RB or whatever they call themselves
this week to announce the best looking credit card app on wheels and dam the weight savings the no paint schemes bring.

Interesting features on the new Merc. Every car is slowly getting closer to an RB copy though.

Isn't that how it always goes though. Everybody trying to copy/improve on the best teams stuff.

I hope that mentality has declined over the past couple decades with improvements in digital modeling and numerical analysis tools slashing the cost of design through iteration.

Still have to know what one is doing but computing power is no longer a barrier.

Warning my outsized opinion on the philosophy of modeling and simulation:

M&S (not to be confused with S&M, very different lol) is good at giving local peaks in the optimization curve but it's still up to human brains to pick which 'hills' to use. It vastly speeds up guess and check and can nudge guesses in the right direction. However there are infinite local peaks on the curve and it's a dice roll as to which ones any one team finds. This there are three strategies that a team with an inferior solution can follow to catch up to the one with the most optimized solution.

1. Get on their 'hill' in places where your solution is inferior. You are usually playing catch-up in the optimization race, but it's predictable, efficient, and very likely to have better results. Try to use the relative strength of the original solution to bridge that optimization gap.

2. Roll the dice again in search of another hill. It's risky and there is a far greater chance of getting worse solution than getting better, considering you probably used the best option you could think of in the first place. But, there's a small chance it pays off big time. The opportunity cost isn't computing resources, it is in finding that hill.

3. Find a greater peak on your own hill. You are likely to find a more optimized solution than what you have now, but it may not be enough to overcome the difference between you and competitors. If your optimization is good to begin with, how much left can you really improve?

IMO, M&S, along with the huge amount of money involved is pushing teams more towards strategy 1. Risk is bad, "competitive" performance is good. Winning is nice, but as long as you put on a good show everyone gets to keep their jobs and sponsors are happy. M&S techniques make it way easier to optimize on the hill someone else discovered than it is to go find another hill.

Well, pre-season testing begins. Which also means, WEC prologue also begins soon.

Where do you guys watch IMSA and WEC? I think IMSA is at Peacock Streaming, not so sure for WEC.

I meant to reply that same evening but let it slip.

I think that your description is all stuff that I simply take for granted. M&S, CAE, Numerical Analysis, or whatever we choose to call it, is only a tool in the box. The real value is in the innate ability to cut to the chase after effectively seeing and defining the landscape. I tend to forget how rare that talent is.
