Help me identify this wire! Extra wire around battery after clutch job

Hey all,

Can anyone tell me where this wire goes? I'm stumped... Could really use your help.

Maybe battery or starter? idk.

That's a connection for ground. I think it's the one running through one of the starter bolts. I just did my clutch a few weeks ago and remember undoing it.

Does your starter have three wires on it?

The instructions on the DIY Clutch thread indicate there's only 2, and if I removed this from the starter, I uncharacteristically left the nut on the bolt.

Maybe it goes to the negative terminal on the battery?

The starter itself has 2 wires, a positive cranking wire and a signal going to the solenoid. But the two long bolts that hold the starter to the trans/motor, one of them is bolted through that bracket you pictured. It's the ground for the starter and block in general.

Sorry for the slightly cruddy picture angle, it was rainy out and I tried jabbing my phone in that area. The starter bolt runs through the hole in the bracket.
