That's what I'm doing. Currently letting my plastidip cure. My badge I got from Ely's was beautiful, but I scratched the hell out of it when I was breaking off the pegs and sanding down the residuals of the pegs. Oh well! Now I just have to find some of that red leather! Anyone have tips on where/what to get?

I just did mine last night (Thanks Ely's!) and my emblem was also in great shape after a quick buff. However, I did get some glue residue (Loctite SuperGlue) on the face of it from residue on my fingers, which kinda gummed it up.

I had shipped off some parts to JPM Coachwerks to get redone in Alcantara, and I had some leftover swatches that they had sent me. They were ~2"x3" pieces of leather and alcantara, and I used black leather to back the emblem. The grain is almost an exact match for the wheel. Turned out great, until I mounted the emblem back about 3* crooked, and it bugs the shit out of me now....

Anyhow, I WAS going to opt for red, but IMO it really made it stand out a bit too much. It may be your cup of tea, though, so I would suggest trying to hit up local fabric or craft stores and seeing what you can get.

I may end up dipping my emblem black and using red leather to re-do my setup so I'm not staring at my wheel all angry while in traffic But if not, I can send you the red leather swatch I've got left.

Thanks, I cut a piece of leather that closely matched steering wheel, and painted badge gloss black.

Wow! Looks awesome. My red cardboard got a tear in it when I was picking away hot glue, so this may be the route I go next!

By the way, everyone, the hot glue is still holding firmly somehow. haha

Also, if anyone's wondering I cut the background out of one of these: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Smead-Waterproof-3-Cut-Folders-10500/dp/B0006HUWK0/ref=pd_sim_op_5"]Amazon.com: Smead Waterproof Poly 1/3-Cut Top Tab File Folders 24 Count (10500): Office Products[/ame] ...and used a poly plastic safe crafters glue, turned out great.

Nice. Got mine ordered thanks to ElyTires and thanks to BuBlake for the find. I will also try matte black but on black leather imported from the Kobe region of Japan.

Looks great bud! I kinda screwed mine up (forgot I should have just left the embossed part, and not tried to cut it up). And I also gouged a bit too much out, and got superglue one the cover. All in all, quite a mess. Need to find a new airbag cover (anyone know where to get one?).

ANNND I didn't take a lot of time making my new badge. Need to get a new badge and take my time. Here's some pics.
