I am not saying that it is not better, but on the same side it is not very different. It is just a model refresh. I believe the biggest difference is as mentioned the feeling in the mid-range. It is not that they removed completely the torque dip. It was there from the beginning for a reason. They just made small improvements in the engine internals, gear ratios, air intake and headers to "fool" a bit the emission regulations and improve the overall feeling of the car.

Yeah on closer and longer inspection i thought it might be red too. Who knows, they might actually introduce new colours to the lineup

Why do you think it is so much different that they had to change the chassis control systems? They just changed the sport mode to let you slide a bit more and renamed it to track mode. It is like saying that they wanted to give some new job to the programmers and create a system revision ...

In fact your car is much more advanced even comparing with the performance package. If I recall correctly, you have the Bilstein STI suspension from the tS. It is a joke to think that the Sachs dampers will be better from your setup. Whatever they do is dependent on the cost. Since the cost has to remain on logical levels, they cannot differentiate so much.

I'm still very happy with my simple steering wheel and my perhaps boring and "old style" tach. It provides just the info I need and will make use of; none of the extra stuff that will just take up space or make things cluttered.

I felt our Zenki is more classy with simple design of cluster and steering wheel and everything else -the core of AE86. The kouki is fancier with some tweak in performance but i am sure come with cost of weight and money. Does it make me want to trade my 2015 for 2017? NO

This is honestly the most important take away from this update. That the partnership between two great manufacturers is still strong and they are still committed to sticking with the platform for the long-haul.

I'm pretty happy with my own MY15, but I want to be safe in the knowledge that, should I need or choose to update in a few years, that there will be a more advanced / evolved version of the same platform for me to buy. Hell it might even be cheaper then, as some of the aspects of the car (that I felt needed addressing by the after market industry) may already have been addressed via generational updates by the manufacturer.

I think because they have now stiffen up the rear chassis the car will now be much more stable when running at high speeds (just like when Subaru retuned the GDB-F WRX STI Spec C). I guess in order to make it slide around just like the old car, they had to also rework the computer with more aggressive character and relabel it "Track Mode".

Better stability and more sound deadening along with nicer interior == want to be more competitive with European cars (Subaru's goal for many years now, I feel like Subaru has had much more say on this new revision). Develop a Bimmer like ride -> go Geman with Sachs or Bilstein, or cap on production cost and make Japan proud -> go domestic with Showa or KYB.

To be honest I don't think one setup is better than the other (of course marketing mandates the new stuff as "better" to sell cars), just different tuning in mind with the base, but seems like they are trying to accomplish the same thing with the optional parts.

You are right I would never trade away my current setup for this new PP.

Lol everyone no one is telling ya or requiring you to trade in or sell your current Zenki car for this, chill out. None of us has driven it few of us have seen one of the twin in person, about maybe three people got to be inside one. No one has driven the BRZ or the 86, you're all getting bent outta shape over hypothecals and 5hp. Enjoy in the fact that were getting a refresh that they still make this car and that you have the choice to change and other people have more choice to purchase. It's annoying to keep hearing about how awesome your purchase decision was to the old one. That's great! Congrats you have one of the greatest drivers car ever made. But listen it is great but improvements could have been made and they made it, on paper it's better just from that, still the original car is amazing. Know it, love it, and have fun, go on enjoying the discussion.

One thing I want to bring up. Sales for the twins are dropping every year, these changes wont help at all in my opinion. They did way too little to attract new buyers.
