My second cousin used to race figure 8. We saw him race once when I was quite young. That's where I learned that racecars are loud AF.

Oh and figure 8 racing is kinda weird. I learned that too.

I don't remember if there were any specific rules for it, but they all managed to get around the track alright. It was a pretty small track so it's not like they are going particularly fast through the intersection. It's basically a game of chicken played twice a lap with a 270 degree corner in between.

it's best described as "a live darwinism experience"

there were no signs, many drivers are good at judging distances/speeds, so they'll hesitate going into it and then gun it across the intersection at a clearing.

it's also fun to see some of the racetrack rivalries come into play-- where certain better drivers will obviously hesitate more at the intersection waiting for a specific victim so they can clip their rear bumper and send them into the tires on the edges.

Well Saturdays activities went a bust. Planned to spend the day getting finances in order and see about refinancing my home and a car loan. Almost every place I tried in person and online isn't financing anything at the moment.

I've hit around 50k in home renovations/rmodel last year and am ready to get PMI off the home loan.

I'm also ready to ditch the truck as my variable loan's apr is almost at 9% these days...

Guess it is day drinking time, might clean out the garage.

Decided to get in touch with my inner @p1l0t today and did some social distancing at about 3,500ft AGL over NW Georgia.

Took 3000lbs of garbage pallets from work to the dump this morning. Now helping friend cleanup and slash burn the property where he is building his new house.

We called our dump to see if it was open. They are open, but are asking people not to come if possible. Since everyone is home doing projects, they are swamped.

I have a funny story about the dump when I get home.

Meanwhile. Forced induction.

Will you be my friend?

I just finished pressure washing the house, patios, deck and driveway, then setting up the outdoor kitchen, a three day project even with a surface cleaning broom. It's tree pollen season and it's coming down in clouds from the fir trees. You have to get it off before it etches into everything unless you like yellow. Kicking back with Advil and wife offered a massage tonight so have a good evening everyone.

New shocks and springs installed on my old Holden SS Commodore (or a Commonwhore if you live in Straya).

I gave it an old school alignment at home. Test drove around the roads within work, so far so good.

It will see a shop to get a more accurate alignment after the apocalypse, assuming I survive of course.

It has also had "alot" of elbow grease on the paint work, not to shabby for a 18 year old car.

Next up is subframe and diff bushings.

So far the lock down has seen it get engine oil + filter, coolant flush, powersteering flush, brake fluid flush, spark plugs and leads.

It got put up on stands and the undercarriage was cleaned, and I mean cleaned, with a banister brush and some rags, in the end the undercarriage was spotless (I was a wet grubby mess).

It is the cleanest this this has been since it rolled off the line in 2002.

I tried that, back in the day, the "fix" was temporary, but at least the hangover gave me something different to pain over -
