zeitronix flex fuel unit comes with ethanol and temperature..
That would be the ultimate solution in providing tunes for people in cold weather and others in hot weather.

i think the problem is that it's impossible to provide a perfect map for everyone on e85 because the blend varies so much from area to area this time of year especially. here in florida we're still on a pretty high blend of ethanol, around 78% or more, where colder climates may be closer to 70%. being that we have no way to compensate for variations without flexfuel, you'll need to make some minor adjustments to ensure everything is optimal.

it should be as simple as logging fueling error params, doing the math and applying a correction to the di/port injector scalers. certainly worth the effort for anyone having minor starting/drivability issues or >3-5% trims.

I've been doing the math and coming up with the ideal amount of 91 to mix based on my trims. It's really easy and takes less effort that tweaking the maps each time around.

Granted, this works ok because the OTS maps aren't at the ragged edge of what any particular fuel formulation is capable of.

Any plans to have true flexfuel support along w/ the sensor?

can you share details of this method? are you trying to hit a certain ethanol rating?

I'm not trying to hit a certain ethanol rating. Here's my method...I can't promise this is perfect, but it works for me every time. If there's a flaw in this method feel free to point it out.

e85 is stoich 9.8:1, gas at 14.7:1. Based on this we can deduce that e85 burns 33% faster than gas ((14.7-9.8)/14.7).

Now let's say I fill up my tank with e85 and watch my trims for the next few drive cycles. I see pretty consistent +5%, so I'm running 5% lean. How much gas do I need to fix that?

Since gas burns 67% as fast, I do .67x = .05 and get .075. So that means I need to have a 7.5% gas to e85 mix in my tank to compensate. Let's say I have ~12 gallons left in the tank * 7.5%. This means I need to add .9 gallons of gas to the mix.

I'm not too concerned with the degraded octane levels at this point as this would decrease from an effective 105 to ~104 octane.

If my trims were 10%, (.67x = .10) = 15% gas mix = 1.8 gallons of gas.

If my trims were worse than that, I'd be looking at another solution. And obviously, this only works if you are running lean. If you're running rich adding gas will worsen this condition.

I can't speak for everyone but I have successfully run our OTS E85 map on everything from E50 to E90. All that you need to drive normally and give the ECU some time to let LTFTs adjust themselves accordingly. If you run on the lower range of E%, you will see LTFTs go quite negative during cruise and load conditions (maybe as high as -10%). If you are on the high range of E%, you will see LTFTs go positive. There is nothing wrong with seeing trims either positive or negative when running E85 since actual ethanol % will vary from station to station and season to season. What matters more is that, once LTFTs settle, you are seeing the desired AFR at WOT (mid to low 12s is good).

My 2c,
shiv

My problem is that with the higher E% stuff, my LTFT would eventually settle but my AFR at WOT would be in the 13s. Plus cold start was a bastard. Doing this little bit of extra mixing work fixes the trims, gets WOT back into 12s, and helps cold start.

OFT e85 flash

Finally flashed my ECU today with the OFT to the Stage 2 Map w/ e85. Filled 90% of my tank with e85 and 10% pump 91. Took all the steps outlined, got a hand from @WRB5titch and BAM! Car is showing improved throttle response, mid-range torque, and a much stronger top end.

Lot's of very helpful info thanks 2 @shiv@vishnu , @Robert@vishnu , @Rombinhood@OpenFlash , @jeebus , @WRB5titch

Is there a stage 1 map with e85? I don't have aftermarket headers.

Stage 2 EL 1.42 e85 or later. Totally safe for a stock car. The trims will adjust for fuel and flow.

No problem. I have 3 tanks through 1.42b and 1/2 tank through 1.52b with no issues on my 100% stock car. I know other are in the same boat. You may have cold start issues (below 50 degrees) if you have high ethanol content in your area.

Edit: If you do have cold start issues, I have a copy of Malt's Table changes for IPW, and even an edited A001 tune to match his adjustments if you need.
