Same, I wanted as pure & basic bare bones a model I could find. If there was a “radio, AC, backseat, power windows, etc.” *delete* option I would’ve chose that route too.

Steel has been out a couple of years. Don't see many of them though.

I didn’t buy my car to sell it. I bought it to keep it and build on it for as long as I can. I even totaled it then bought it back for $1700 if you check my build thread. I’m not worried about depreciation on a car like this, but I’ll pick something like a GT500 up later on.

See that is just it. You are stating all of what you wanted or did as the best practices and everybody else as foolish. The majority of these cars are bought by average people that will trade them in for something new in a few years that does not make them either rich or foolish.
Because you think it is the best doesn't mean everybody else has to as well.
I personally think anybody that trys to fix a totaled car is a dreamer that will fail but that doesn't make me right.

It is a great deal and a no brainier IF you want PP and a Limited BRZ. For all that extra money that most will not use it is not such a great choice.

My 2015 is Steel. I think I've only seen one other. Mind you, I don't see many twins around.

Jesus what a lame selection of colors, red, blue, black, gray, grey, gray, and white. My one regret in buying this car in 2012 was not realizing how lame another gray car is, I should have gotten a lava and if I had to replace my car I'd get a lava FRS with no extra crap even if I had to fly across the country to pick it up.

disagree, the 'performance parts' are all show and no go, if you like HID and "amenities" The BRZ certainly edged out the 86 last I looked, but idgaf about that.

Not sure when steel was first offered... maybe just new to me? They definitely didn't have it back in 2012 or I would have considered it

IIRC, Steel replaced Argento in MY15.

Even though I'm not a huge fan on Lava personally I wish they kept it because it really did seem like the 'trademark' 86 color.

But now that MF Ghost is out maybe Firestorm/Ablaze will be the iconic 86 color?

How is wider wheels, bigger brakes, and performance shocks “all show and no go”? PP is the performance pack which adds some good stuff, at least when you consider that it’s only $1200.

As far as color options, I hate the selection. We need matte black like on the GR-HV concept, we need a lime green, we need the Series.Yellow yellow. Subaru should throw in Hyper Blue and/or the orange that the Crosstreks get. An attractive sports car like ours deserves flashy colors.

Matt black would be a dumbass colour on these. People can hardly see them as it is.

I'd rather put that money towards lighter wheels than those 17x7.5, or wider, or better brake pads, or better tires or lowering springs, and the Sachs dampers show up for chump change every few weeks if you keep an eye out. Take that $1.2k, spend $500 on tires, $450 on brake pads and fluid, and $200 on camber bolts and an alignment and you'll have a base model car that will outrun a showroom PP at the track all day long without brake fade. All of those are mods you'd STILL want to make to a PP to be reliable at the track, so the base model will be faster and >$1k cheaper to prep for the track to equivalent performance. If you want to go faster than a base model, the PP doesn't offer any significant advantage, it's the same tires, the brakes are still prone to fade, and the base dampers are pretty damn great for driving hard already.

If you care about the "go" that $1.2k can go a long way if you know what you're looking for. A set of adjustable Konis or Bilsteins with 100k mile warranty with lowering springs or entry level coilovers, a set of lightweight 17x9 wheels, a header and tune, pretty much the only thing the PP offers that isn't really matched by the aftermarket is a cool looking set of brake calipers that are reliable. But a set of good pads in the stock calipers and a fluid flush will hold up to any abuse thrown at it for just a couple hundred bucks.

Just my 2 cents, I don't like HID's so the BRZ isn't ever an option for me, even if it was, no interest in the PP (besides, finding good pads for those calipers is a bit of a pain, but the info is trickling out on the right size)

Cheers on the color options though, I'd love to have a green FRS.
