This is how the wonderful (sarcasm) dealership folks explained it to me. Come in buy a new FR-S and we will upgrade your stock radio to the touchscreen base radio for $239.

pretty sure its upgrade price. The previous stock pioneer HU MSRP for about 450. I Doubt this new one with a touchscreen would be cheaper.

Wow that looks way better than what the FRS has now, one of the reasons I got BRZ is the touch screen HU. My only gripe with it is I wish it had that track seek button that this one has. No steering control and having the look at the LCD to skip track is slightly annoying.

Yeah does anyone know if this touchscreen upgrade will come with navigation as standard?
This will save so much headache for choosing a good aftermarket unit especially since this will be plug n play if I'm not wrong. |

I went to the dealership today and they knew something about the a new HU with GPS but couldn't even find it on the website so I just continued checking out the car. I knew more about the car then they did. I was frustrated as hell lol |

ok, so its pretty clear that if you buy a new scion, you can upgrade the old base unit to this one as a dealer installed option. but if you've already taken delivery of your car, you're sorta SOL since the dealer wont take your "used" base model head unit back. then after spending $293 on the head unit, you can add nav for an additional $1005
