E85 cold start

I am currently running @Shiv@Openflash v1.6 OTS E85 tune which I love. Mornings here in Melbourne are usually around 10*c (or 50*f) so not massively cold. It has been taking me two cranks to get the car running since my second tank of E85. I have been doing some reading on the net and it basically says to run more IPW at lower temps until the car starts normally. Has anyone tried this or other strategies to improve the cold start?

If your on united E85 its about E90 , your could add 4 or 5 liters of 98 ron to a full tank and it will fire up fine.

Think luckrider did the mods your after PM him.

My first tank was Caltex plus 1 - 2 litres of the remaining V power and I had no issues with starting. My second tank was United and that is when it started the cold start difficulties so I would say you are on the money here. Having said that the car feels stronger and smoother on the United than it did on the Caltex with leftover 98 so if there is a tuning solution I would prefer to find it.

I also figured if people had had some tuning success it would be worth sharing with the community.

If you scaled your maf on petrol then you can put that scale in the E85 tune, just monitor your AFR top end to make sure its doesn't go much leaner than 12:1 and your not getting knock.

To be honest, I don't remember. I think I was going by percentage or just eyeballed it. Eventually, I was able to get it to start on the first crank. This was a long time ago though.. the car has evolved far from that in the past 8 months.

My started on the first crank this morning but really wanted to stall. Not sure if this will do damage in the long term with this type of start up.
