FRS/BRZ Manual Trans Fluid
Hey guys,
I'm just curious on what kind of MT fluid you guys are using on your FRS/BRZ? Any recommendations on which one is the best for our brass synchros? |

There is really only good oil to run. Amsoil Manual Synchromesh. Its non corrosive to yellow.
Really good stuff. I've switch all of our BRZ FRS cars into this oil. Also helps in the first gear bump in. Don |

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think their are 3rd party tests showing the RP is in fact corrosive on yellow parts even though they say it is not. They found that some of the newer brass used is much softer and more corrosive. Don't know if the Aiisin has this kind of brass. And its getting to be quite expensive. I think its $17+ now a quart.

I have seen a few blackstone reports and do not recall seeing any reviews that noted corrosion from RP, but that's not to say it has not happened.

I put Redline MTL into mine recently. It's shifting incredibly well now, was pretty stiff trying to get into second on the stock fluid. (MTL is a bit thinner than the stock stuff. I wouldn't expect the transmission to hold a lot of torque with MTL in it...)
Probably going to try the Motul Gear300 stuff next, just because you can use it in both the tranny and the rear end (so I hear...) I hate trying to rinse all the gear oil out of my Motive power fill bottle before doing the transmission, and I'm sure as hell not going to buy another one. |

We have had very good results with both Amsoil and Motul Gear 300. By the way, selling for 15% off retail as a reseller of Amsoil products voids your dealership....

Switched mine over to Amsoil Syncromesh in the gearbox and Amsoil Severe Gear 75w-90 in the diff. Made the swap around 1700 miles, I have over 4000 miles now.
Not an Amsoil fan for reasons associated with the business, but their products are usually very good. I have nothing but good things to say about the swap. Swapping the diff fluid really helped with some noise from the rear end, especially when making tight low speed turns. First and second gear are much smoother when cold. Syncromesh is thin enough to allow for smooth shifting when cold, but thick enough to still offer protection when hot. I'd do the swap over again, and probably use the same fluid. Best I could get locally without resorting to mail order. |

I'm running Motul Gear 300 in the trans and diff, very happy with it and the bottles come with a built in fill nipple which makes it that much nicer to do. Seriously I'd pay extra for these bottles if I had to.
