Rebuilding Engine, Help!
I had purchased a used gt86 last year and the car had plenty issues to start with which i fixed step by step until... The connecting rods got damaged.
The garage that dismantled my engine has made a huge list of items i need to buy including oil pump, water pump, pistons, conrods etc. He did confirm the damage is only done to the conrods but asked me to replace most of the internals. Could anyone advise what parts to look at, aftermarket or OEM or even mention parts that I can reuse because I have never had to rebuild an engine and I'm trying to save as much as I can. Thanks |

How many miles/Kms on the engine? How did only one or more conrods fail without putting a hole in the block?
Something smells fishy.

Around 121000 kms done
Okay so the reason why I did have the block opened is because everytime I had my foot on the throttle, there was loud knocking sound coming from the engine. however it wouldnt knock on idle or maybe it did very faintly. the more i pressed my foot the louder the knocking got. |

I see. Spun rod bearing. I guess if they're blown out at the wrist pins too... Ash is right. Whole thing needs to go.

Honestly I would do a k-swap a this point. With a spun rod bearing you will probably need crank reground as well etc etc. These blocks or so iffy on holding power or being reliable it just aint worth dumping money into it. Just my two cents

Update: So I am rebuilding the engine, ordering the parts i need off a list
The mechanic just told me i need to replace my fuel injectors. I've been trying to read about them but I can't figure it out. But what I see is it is pointless to upgrade your injectors if your running NA? Any thoughts and recommendations? |

IMO: I would have the injectors professionally cleaned and tested. It cost me $20 each for the PI's and $30 for the DI's. Getting new ones sounds like an unnecessary expense.
