Orb's correct.

Besides if Nissan had an L6 boner they would've kept it for the GT-R which has had one as far back as my knowledge of them goes, until the current one. But they didn't. So they won't.

Don't need an I6 engine as an "excuse". Shove the 4 cylinder way aft and the front wheels forward for 50/50 or more rearward weight distribution and you get the same long hood:

There ya go, modern 240Z proportions right there!

Even with a 4, I think they'd have to lay it *way* over on its side (a la Porsche 924/944) to meet stupid "pedestrian impact" regs without having to resort to a too-high hoodline.

Here's hoping for a future Z that's a lot more like the original 240! No more Z's as 2-seater G's, please...

So, I thought this was interesting in the new 2014 Nissan Pathfinder...

http://jalopnik.com/2014-nissan-path...dbye-461244455

Quote:
The new Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid comes in either front- or all-wheel-drive configurations, and it packs a supercharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine coupled with an electric motor for a net total of 243 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque. Hey, at least it's supercharged; that's kinda cool.
2.5 Liter Inline 4? Seems like a modern-aged KA-Engine!

I don't know, maybe i'm just going insane.

Good point. S2000 is absolutely beautiful. Remembering back to when it first came to market, it hit on so many traditional elements in an updated package. Absolutely fantastic. (Too bad the interior is so damn small.)

Advances in efficiency and more cars getting 4 cylinder engines reminded me of this old advertisement. It's as though the opposite is now true!

Smaller Nissan Z car planned

Nissan officials plan a new Z car, although it will be smaller than the current offering and will use turbo power

Quote:
Nissan’s next Z car "could be smaller", says design boss Shiro Nakamura, and will be powered by a downsized four-cylinder turbocharged engine, according to product chief Andy Palmer.

It will also be a car of slightly different character to the current model and its predecessor, says Nakamura, because "we can’t do the same thing three times".

But although "a new Z will happen", says Palmer, its design has yet to be decided. Palmer also confirms that there will be "a normal version, and a Nismo", Nissan is keen to develop its performance sub-brand as part of its re-orientation as the sportier manufacturer that it has been in previous eras.

I think the next Z will take styling cues from the EsFlow concept.

OH YEAH!

I have no loyalty except for that to the driving experience. It's funny though, that I have a few people IRL that tell me: "Naw you don't want to buying a first gen car" but looking at the Twins, I still think they haven't fixed the bugs yet even now entering it's 3rd manufacturing year.

The question now becomes: how good will this 240Z be?

Does anyone else look at it this way.

FR-S/BRZ will compete with the next Z/Z35/240Z?

Whatever the IDx will end up being called will take on the sub 86 car?

Only if the Twins get a significant power increase. All indications are that even though Nissan is phasing out the 6cyl the 2.5l turbo 4 replacement will still produce 280-330 hp.

IDx will be the small 200-240? hp RWD coupe competing with the twins.
