Ha yeah I actually noticed that running down the registration list. I think there were only a handful or so that did national events back when I ran up there (I was not one of them, as I always had some underprepped 240sx in SM or DSP on street tires).

Sorry in advance for the shameless foresale ad.

I am likely going to sell my 17x7 +42 Velox PG-5S rims since I've moved onto STX at this point. I have five of them, I bought the fifth one when they were down to two wheels left. These are forged and on my scale they weigh 13.8lbs. They are discontinued and haven't been made in several years.

The paint finish on these rims isn't the greatest so they have a bit of flaking at this point, except the 5th one which is brand new. I'll take some better pictures. They actually look very good on a DGM car IMHO. I was going to ask $1100 plus shipping for them. This is for 5 wheels.

I'm heading to a local event tomorrow and realized I have only a vague idea of what tire pressures to shoot for on my just purchased 235/40 17 star specs. I'm guessing I'll end up somewhere mid 30's give or take, but if anyone has actual experience on these tires in this size I'll happily take recommendations.

Car is a '13 FRS. Only other current mods are camber bolts, cat back, and et42 wheels.

Had our first event of the year today. 40's windy, rained the day before so pretty much not the best conditions but it was a lot of fun. The course layout was nice imo and contained sections where you just have to straight up trust the car/setup. I was on the limiter for what felt like eternity on the back slalom and with the added dips and puddles it was certainly a challenge. We had a ton of twins competing, not sure how many are here but I believe I might have finished 3rd in class. I know jonesey battled a very good drive in a rx8 for the lead and I was a little less than a second off their pace.

Set up:
Koni, a hair from full stiff front, 90 degrees from full soft rear
215/45/17 Rs3s V2 37f 35r
Camber bolts
Stock Bar
Track Pipe.

Glad we were done after the second heat, I couldn't feel my toes! Not sure where I ended up, fastest run had a cone. Good to get the rust off, I'll be back at Metlife on 4/4, but probably in the gf's FoST. Video:

Hah.camera angle on the side by side changed just enough between the two I was able to view the surroundings in 3d... Brains are weird! I can't wait for things to get started here.

Nice to meet you. Based on the video I Def lost time on the back turn around. I took it slower and tighter which clearly wasn't faster. Nice driving.

This was my best run good for first in CS with the Texas Region SCCA. Driving tips and comments appreciated.

I'm coming from a WRX so I'm starting to get the idea of a RWD momentum car. Gotta get on the gas sooner and don't use the brakes! Lol

I'd bet there is at least 2/10ths of a second left between you and the left side cones. In other words, you should be closer to the cones to reduce times. There were a few in there that were good placement, but when you can see 6 inches of pavement between the cone and the car in a slalom, there is time to be had there.

I find the easiest way to recognize issues is to watch the videos between each run. Then you can adjust your next run slightly.

Nice job on 1st place though. It is always exciting to do well.

Cheers,
Chris

That might have been the smoothest brz run I have seen. You can def get more aggressive with the car IMO. Nice driving.

Thanks for the advice. I'll be more aggressive with the throttle next time. I'm just now learning to throttle steer my way thru the tight 180's.

What pressures did you end up running? What were your impressions of the tires and how'd they perform? I've got pretty much the exact same setup, and have my first event coming up in a few weeks.

Hello to all! Just picked up a BRZ and plan to prep it for CStreet and was hoping to get some opinions on what tire dimension seem to be preferred. Are we stuffing 245/40's on or going with something thinner like a 235/40 or 225/45?

Read the last 20 pages of this post to find out.

Short answer: Yes. Stuffing 245/40's on or going with something thinner like a 235/40 or 225/45.
