ok, so I had a chance to install the new extrude honed intake manifold today. Along with that I looked inside the top heads and jesus H christ...lots of carbon build up. The upper cylinder cleaner from Subaru should be used every damn oil change. I didn't, so I used CRC/Liqui Molly alternative which did the job brilliantly.

I have also changed the spark plugs and installed a Saikou Michi catch can as well.

In terms of performance improvement I can definitely say there is a noticeable improvement, however is not measured. I will get it on the dyno over the next couple of weeks and report back.

Looking forward to the results. Any measurable improvement will be a good option to the $3k+ Jun IM. lol

The surface is much smoother. They mentioned that the intake manifold flows really good as it is. As good as Porsche 911 and some in terms of the CFM per runner.
Runner before after
1. 431 472
2. 433 474
3. 430 471
4. 427 468

Will post results
Do you know many inches of mercury was that test performed with?

Unfortunate to hear about there being some buildup in the cylinder head. Was it a film or clumps of solids? Any pics? If it was severe enough there's going to be some difficulty in separating the improvements from the intake and the cleaning.

I also have a Saikou Michi catch can hooked to the intake manifold and when I emptied it, I got about a small cup of coffee worth. I took a picture of it too!

Most of that should just be condensation, how often do you service your can?

I have to admit that I haven't emptied that in quite a while (6-12 months), but you are right in saying that most of it is condensation. I have hooked up another can to the crank and intake pipe so I will have to see what that gives me in couple of months.

My old 33 would get it through condensation, that was VTA, my STI got none but it was plumbed in.

Hell, the can in the STI stayed near on bone dry, no condensation and only a fine mist of oil on the filter media (fuel foam) at the intake to the can, never had any oil trapped in the can at all.
