Perrin Engine Mounts and Cusco Catch Can Install and Review @ Pure Automotive

Hey guys,
Today I installed the new Perrin Engine Mounts and a Cusco Catch Can on the shop car, just thought I'd share a brief review.

The install was worry free, no issues to report. The stock mounts are a little tricky to get out because they have a stud in them that slides through the frame held in by a nut vs the Perrin mounts that use a bolt that goes into the mount. I would highly recommend having them put in on a lift, I had to jack the motor up pretty far to get the mounts out.

The good news is, I think the NVH (Noise, Vibrations, Harness) are very low. I am very pleased with the fact that car doesn't have a harsh idle at all. I was concerned that putting mounts in would make the car vibrate and rattle but thus far, its very tame!

I will say this, if you're on the fence about mounts because you don't want to ruin the way the car feels, I highly recommend these mounts, I was honestly shocked at how small a difference the initial test yielded.

Now I just need some driving time to the see how they are in action!


I got the Cusco catch can because I like the fact that it comes with a mounting bracket and puts it up out of the way of the rest of the engine. The hose routing that Cusco recommends is WRONG! There is a certain way that I recommend routing your catch can to retain factory parameters while making it actually functional, along with adding some baffling to the can. I also painted it black to retain the factory style vs bling bling chrome.

Cool!!! I'm glad to hear NVH increase is minimal. I just ordered these mounts and I appreciate the review.

can be done with 4 jack stands and a jack
about 3" of lift does the trick, right?

however, I have a little NVH at idle, mainly a low freq vibe, but I also have the whiteline tranny insert

If you're comfortable laying under a car on jack stands and then jacking the engine up, then yes probably, but I wouldn't recommend it. The NVH you have is probably the Whiteline bushing.

I'm betting you have ready access to a lift? LUCKY!

I dont, so , I often have all four on stands, so yeah, its something you get comfy with after double checking and triple checking each stand! Scary, yeah a little, but I do the wobble test and she's fine. Theres always a 5th stand under the front end and I toss ramps under the rear wheels, 'just in case'

Yeah, I just wanted to put that out that the NVH is likely even more noted in setups where you have WL x-member, tranny mount and, Perrin Motor mounts, there s little lumpy-ness that can be felt ONLY at idle, and more "driveline-awareness"(in a good way) but raising revs takes it right away. If youre running a tune, simply ask the tuner to raise your revs to mid 800s. Definitely feels better when thrashing it, hard.

If your car is on the dyno again, is it possible to get video of the engine bay? I saw my engine jerk quite a bit while it was on the dyno with stock mounts, so I'd be interested to see how much less the engine moves with the Perrin mounts. TIA!
