I didn't bother giving a click.

Toyota was planning to show off their version in TAS, but like someone said TAS been canceled, so that planned is axed. Now, they're planning for something else... around Spring? Late Spring? Don't remember exact date.

Toyota delaying showing off their version is nothing surprising if you looked at how FR-S was shown before BRZ. They just take turn who gets to show off.

I had a feeling that's all it was. Subaru and its dealers struggled a bit on marketing the BRZ originally since it didn't quite fit what makes a Subaru a Subaru. As it is better known now, daddy Toyota gave them a chance to have the shine and gain some overall feedback.

The headlights look like the pre-facelift headlights with the LED strip as found in the upper trims overseas and the special edition FRS'......

Heck i think its some kind of first gen mule of sorts....cuz the central portion of the grille also looks like the pre-facelift grille.....

It's not for planning purposes, it's for the current surge of COVID-19 cases + the UK variant of the virus to die down so Japan can actually have people travel there, should they want an in-person event in Japan.

Japan declared all non-resident foreign nationals persona non grata this week, which means you can't travel to Japan even for essential reasons unless you are a citizen/resident.

So the 6 months is more of a situation where they're buying time until Q2 2021, when they hope the restrictions are lifted (and in time for the Tokyo Olympics).

Sorry, I call

What's your source that states Toyota wants to unveil it in Japan, other than the rumors that they were supposed to reveal the 86 at the TAS? Subaru didn't have any issue revealing the BRZ in California. I really think that they don't want to sabotage Supra sales for those that really want a Toyota and don't want to/can't wait for the 86.

I never said I have a source.

Call BS all you want, but Toyota revealed the Supra at the Detroit Auto Show in 2019, same weekend as Tokyo Auto Salon.

Product launch events are always a major coordinated event.

My post is based on speculation, personal experience with product launches (and delays of product hours prior to NDA expiration), and previous experience with Toyota and how they pushed the FR-S/Supra out initially.
