Flying to New Orlean tomorrow for work conference. Never been there, but had heard it’s hot & humid. Any recommendation food to try there?

Crawfish étouffée, turtle soup, oysters rockefeller, gumbo, all good. Anywhere in the French Quarter is good. The famous places usually have a line outside. Bourbon Street is something. I'll never forget the first time I turned on to Bourbon Street. The combo smell of urine, vomit, and stale beer just about knocked me down. Wild place.

And why would you have to go that far? Half the businesses on Bourbon Street are strip clubs! |

Been to conferences in New Orleans several times, but it's been a while. Honestly wasn't a fan of the city as a whole. The food was great though.
Personal favorite is Mulate's, directly across the street from the convention center on the river. Their Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya is great. They used to have a fried crawfish plate (similar to fried shrimp) that was my favorite (with a bottle of hot sauce) but I don't see it on the menu any longer. In fact, they had several Crawfish meals no longer on their menu. I'm not a heavy drinker so Bourbon Street was lost on me.

A librarian from Salt Lake City cut loose on Bourbon Street. What could possibly go wrong?

I have to admit, my first time there, about 27yrs old, we had a blast on B St. Every time they have a hurricane and flood I think, "it could use a good flush!" |
