Also, replacing the valve guides blows, smacked it a few times last night with no meaningful results, getting a better tool today and I’ll have to wail on it tomorrow.

Usually you want to heat the head a couple hundred degrees F coming out and going in.

Installed a new flywheel, clutch and throw-out bearing and only had two minor inconveniences which easily got sorted out.

Emptied out the oil catch can. It's been somewhere inside of a year since I last emptied it, and the car didn't get driven for about 4 months of that time, basically all of fall and the start of winter. It was about half full, but you can see the color of the contents in the bottom portion of the pic (coffee-like), and the weird collection of....whatever the hell, in the whole bottom end of the can and the very center of it. That's strictly a winter thing that happens. In the spring and summer the fluid in the can is a lot darker and clearer, and there aren't any strange globs in the can.
