I didn't have any problems, just avoided spraying the alternator and fuse box, though they will still both get wet. I don't use a pressure washer though, just a car wash nozzle. Some brushes, diluted D101 meguiars all purpose cleaner should get you like new. Afterwards i drove it on the highway to make sure everything burned off.

Use a steamer. You can buy an automotive detailing steamer off amazon for under $100.

Melt the dirt and grime, wipe wipe wipe, if there is some stuff you melted with the steamer but cant reach with your hands, lightly spray with a hose.

I didn't realize they were that cheap.

Do you prep the engine bay with any APC, or do you just clean it with straight steam and nothing else?

Honestly, you could probably do a light APC foam bath in the engine bay but it's something I've never done personally. I just know that steam would be the safest and probably least intrusive method of cleaning if water was a concern.

I don't really think you could go wrong either way, but I'd highly recommend a cheap amazon automotive steamer regardless. Even for other things like deep cleaning your chassis, fender wells, coilovers, etc during the winter. They're a fantastic tool to have and also a very eco friendly tool.

You'll find yourself using less and less chemicals for certain things you needed chemicals for prior. Just be careful with whatever steamer you buy. The amazon ones work great, but please be sure to wear gloves. You can really fuck yourself up with a steamer and 9 out of 10 times it's because of the shitty production quality of the steamer itself lol
