I went through the same thing with the oil temp gauge on my Focus ST. Saw it creep up past halfway for the first time and was like "oh shit, that's not normal". Turns out- it was

The oil cooler thermostat on my 135i didn't even OPEN until 235.
You guys need to take a Xanax.

I pay much more attention to the temps when they are cold, rather than hot. Don't want to push the car too hard until the engine is properly warmed up.
